Biscuit has been adopted!!
He was the first group of cats which I and Daisy, Wonbin, Sanghyun decided to focus on the adoption in Asan shelter.
We took three sick cats to the vet clinic at first and they stayed there for 10 days.
Three of them had serious herpes symptoms and we tried to find foster home for them while they were stayed at the vet.
Biscuit moved to Wonbin's house and stayed for a month. However we decided to find another foster home for him due to herpes. (one of Wonbin's cat was sick with herpes after Biscuit moved into their home)
Finally Biscuit met Suna and Hoyoun. They were such a great foster parent and stayed together for 10 months.
12th April, 2014. Biscuit met a great parent, Robin pitts!
Thanks Robin and Hyunchul. We were very happy Biscuit met you as a parent. :)
Thanks all.
*Update 6th February, 2014 by Suyoun
He has been living in a foster home for 10 months.
He is happy with foster parent but needs a forever home.
Biscuit is very friendly with people so all visitors like him so much.
Just be a friend of him. We are waiting you.
*Update 16th December, 2013 by Suyoun
Biscuit needs a forever home soon because his foster mom will have a baby.
That's what we promised with foster mom. Biscuit is lovely lazy cat.
Please consider to be a great friend of him.
I know he looks very comfortable and happy under the fostering now. But They can't keep him soon.
I'd like to find a forever home for him in this time.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Meet beautiful Biscuit!
Biscuit came to Asan shelter a few months ago from the streets. He was malnourished, covered in scratches, a rash and almost hairless, and starving for attention. This sweet guy has had a tough early life. Fast forward to now, Biscuit has gained a significant of weight, his scratches and rash have healed, and his fur has pretty much completely grown back, minus a few spots where there will be permanent scars, but his coat has grown thicker and shinier! Biscuit has done amazingly well considering the circumstances he's found in. He's a very gentle, affectionate, calm young male cat who really just wants a warm lap, chin scratches and a chance in life. And he deserves it!
Biscuit is neutered, vaccinated and generally in good shape. A general health check will be required once he leaves the shelter. Just a sidenote, previously there have been some cases of stomatitis ( like a feline gingivitis) and non fatal but highly contagious feline herpes virus in the shelter. Biscuit has had moments of displaying mild symptoms of the herpes virus (some mucous discharge and sniffling) and while he had some treatment, it needs to be maintained before it gets better. These symptoms often present themselves in cats who are in stressful conditions, like shelters. Finding a foster home for Biscuit would be the beginning to treat the symptoms alongside a short dose of antibiotics. Biscuit's oral health seems satisfactory but a more thorough check of his teeth is needed. At this point, Biscuit isn't showing any signs of stomatitis but there is a possibility stomatitis symptoms can develop in the future and thus require some dental treatment and care. Most cats that are exposed to an environment where stomatitis has occured WILL NOT develop it, but some cats will, and a depressed immune system does seem to make them more likely to develop it. However, if by any chance this arises, there is a fantastic vet in Seoul who specialises in feline dental care we can refer you too!
The key is to give Biscuit a healthy, happy environment for him to flourish in! Please consider giving this sweet boy a loving home!

I and Wonbin met Biscuit on this Sat. :)
He is really doing well in a foster home. He enjoys playing with laser pointer and wets his mouth with snacks lol
I saw his mouth was full with water!
This is the best way to be happy that living with Biscuit!

He really enjoys his life in a foster home.
I totally trust he can be a great friend for you if you adopt him.
*Update 28th August, 2013 by Suyoun Kom
Biscuit had a little surgery for his back skin problem.
During the humid weather, he had grooming hardly in his back so got hurts.
The vet stitch up the wound and he is getting better now.
forster mom and dad made scarf instead of neck collar becuase Biscuit hates it.(looks like going crazy when he gets neck collar)
it looks very cute for him. :)
Biscuit needs a forever home.

HE HAS A NEW FRIEND SHARK AT A FOSTER HOME!
Biscuit is doing well at a foster home. The foster mom and dad love Biscuit(a.k.a 봉식) and their family and family in a law love him as well.
Moreover he got a new friend from Asan shelter. Friend's name is Shark!
I'm so happy they have a friend for each other. Thanks SunA and Hoyoun. <3

UPDATE: June 15
Biscuit moved to a new foster on the weekend and is settling in well. His new foster will be keeping a blog about Biscuit, which you can visit here!
http://m.blog.naver.com/01192533440/100190082927
I'll endeavour to translate some of the updates for his profile here ^^ But be sure to check out all the lovely photos of Biscuit there! What a beautiful cat he is! Fingers crossed he'll be in a forever home soon!
***
UPDATE: June 3
In the time he's been with his wonderful foster, Biscuit's health has improved immensely; his herpes symptoms have all but disappeared, though his foster notes on rainy days he seems to have a slight cough but on fine days displays no symptoms. He is still taking some meds for these symptoms but hopefully this should cease soon. Biscuit will have a vet check this week to also see if his earmites have cleared up. It goes to show how much bringing cats with herpes into a foster home environment really helps with their recovery.
Biscuit is thriving in his new temporary home and is really enjoying the company of his foster siblings, 4 cats and one dog! I think Biscuit would do well in a home with another cat. If you're interested in meeting Biscuit to adopt, contact me and we can arrange a date! Currently his home is in Anyang. Please consider giving this charming boy a forever home.
***
UPDATE: May 17
Biscuit was released from the vets today and went into a temporary foster home. He did really well during his week at the vets but needs some special medication for one more week to finally get over his herpes and ear mites for good. Now that he's in a home environment Biscuit should make an even more speedy recovery from these minor ailments. But Biscuit is his usual bright eyed friendly gentle self and enjoying all the comforts and love of home life. His shelter days are finally over! However, he's still in need of a forever home, so if you're looking to welcome a affectionate, gentle and lovely male kitty into your life, Biscuit may just be the cat for you!
***
UPDATE: May 11
I took Biscuit for his sponsored health check today. The vet confirmed Biscuit has a mild case of herpes virus and has a case of earmites but neither too serious, phew! He received some eye and eardrops as well as a few injections of antibiotics to help with the virus and should recover from both of these things soon. Other than this, Biscuit is healthy and well. There's a potential foster waiting in the wings so hopefully by the end of this week Biscuit will find himself in a foster home. It's about time too, this gentleman deserves it! Keep your fingers crossed! MANY THANKYOUS too to the kind, generous catloving sponsor who offered to support Biscuit!
***
UPDATE: March 16
Wowee!! An extremely generous cat lover has given a huge donation towards getting Biscuit and Custard a much needed health check. Let's hope a little extra TLC and treatment too will help nip the herpes virus in the bud. But it would be such a shame to see him returned to the shelter after the health check, he really needs a warm stable home environment to really tackle this virus. I would like to reiterate that treatment for the virus is easy and affordable to treat and he could even go to a home with other cats, as long as they are all up to date with their vaccinations.
Biscuit is a gentlemen, extremely docile, friendly, affectionate cat who would love nothing more for a lap to sleep on and all the cuddles and chin scratches he can get. I would really love to see this amazing cat get the second chance he really deserves. Please consider opening your home and heart to him. Stay posted for his health check update!
***
UPDATE: February 16
Biscuit is still waiting for that special someone! He still continues to display what mostly likely is herpes virus symptoms here and there. Thankfully the days are slowly getting warmer and while Biscuit can now finally enjoy a few more sunbathing hours what he really needs is a devoted someone to give him a nice warm stable home, plenty of TLC and a chance to receive a chance to recover fully from the virus. Please don't be put off by this, the herpes virus is quite common in cats, especially shelter cats, it's non fatal though it's rather uncomfortable for cats I'm sure, like having a bad cold. Treatment for herpes virus is often short and very affordable. Why not consider helping out a gentleman of a cat like Biscuit and give him a fighting chance?

UPDATE: January 22
Come and meet adorable Biscuit!!!
***
UPDATE: December 25
Poor sweet Biscuit will have to spend this holiday season at the shelter. I'm so surprised he's still waiting for that special family to come along and whisk him away from the shelter cold. But Biscuit is a resilient patient one, and I hope your perfect family isn't too far away. Fingers crossed 2013 will be your year! Please consider giving this perfect gentleman a warm loving home this coming new year! If you're interested in fostering or adopting Biscuit, please contact and send a completed application form to Daisy at [email protected]. Application forms can be found here >>> http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application.
PLEASE GIVE BEAUTIFUL BISCUIT A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
UPDATE: November 24
Biscuit is constantly going from strength to strength every time I see him! I'm always impressed by how gentle and sweet this little guy is and I can only imagine how he would really flourish in a home of his own; I love to imagine him all sprawled out in the sunshine or on a soft bed! Biscuit is such a lap cat and loves to cuddle and receive chin scratches. Oh how he loves his chin scratches! Please consider giving this gentle kind soul a warm bed this winter, he will only thank you in rivers of kindness!

Wonderful volunteer Daisy spends some time with sweet Biscuit. The cats at Asan got a much needed heating pad and lots of fresh food this week. Daisy also did some much needed organization to the cat house as we prepare for a long Korean winter.
Please consider coming out, donating your time and energy or, better yet, foster or adopt one of these beautiful animals waiting for a second chance at Asan Shelter.

Great news! The Asan kitties, along with their canine shelter companions, received their heating pads this weekend! Thank you so much to all the generous and kind people out there who pledged their support and pennies to keep the furry clans at Asan warm and toasty this winter! We were all genuinely overwhelmed by everyone's kindness! Thank you!!!
Oh Biscuit, I know there's someone out there willing to give you a second chance! I'm always marveled every time I visit by the progress you have made since you arrived. You are one of the most gentlest, sweetest male cats I have ever met and you really deserve a warm loving home of your own!! Please consider taking in this young gentleman over winter, he will no doubt pay you back in kindness and loving affections! Sweet sweet Biscuit...xx

That's no fun with the herpes business. Is it okay for him to go to a home with other animals while he's fighting this? How contagious is it?
dbis
Feb 18, 2013 08:10

The herpes virus is not too serious and is quite a common ailment with cats, I think the name makes it sound like it is more serious! However it is highly contagious and most likely spread through bodily fluids i.e grooming, discharge, sharing litter boxes and food bowls. It would be better for him to go to a home without any other animals, though it is possible he could go into a home with cats who are up to date on their vaccinations. I'm not too sure if this virus can infect dogs. Actually a more warm stable environment is the first helpful step to help cats recover from this virus, and treatment and medicine is usually quite short and affordable! He just needs someone to give him a chance to recover...

Biscuit enroute to his temporary foster ( there's another stable foster awaiting him in a couple of weeks!). Biscuit didn't like traveling too much nor the being in motion in a car, and meowed all the way home, even when I took him out of his carrier and he sat next to me on the backseat, poor dear! But now it seems to be forgotten as he's apparently enjoying getting heaps of love and attention in a home!
