Beautiful and loving Cara went to her brand new forever home with her wonderful new mom today!!
Congratulations, little girl!! I will miss you so much, but I'm so happy you found a great home!
UPDATE: Jan. 15, 2013
It is official- I will be leaving Korea at the end of March and I must have a new home for Cara by then.
Cara has been with me since the end of August, and I fell in love with her almost immediately- she is absolutely bursting with personality and sweetness, and, as I've said before, I would adopt her myself in a heartbeat were it possible...
I do not want to leave the country without having found a great home for Cara first. If you, or anyone you know might be able to offer her that home, please contact me as soon as you can!

Cara is still urgently looking for her forever home!
If you are able to invite this dog into your life, you will be rewarded by her affection and happiness everyday! She is an amazing dog who deserves an amazing home- please consider giving one to her!!
UPDATE: Dec. 3, 2012
I have been hoping against hope that I might be able to adopt this amazing girl and bring her back to Canada with me, but alas, it is not in the cards, and I now have to find a great home for her as soon as possible.
I cannot say enough about Cara- she is everything that a person could want in a dog: she is smart, happy, sweet, affectionate, energetic (but not crazy energetic!) playful, adorable, house-trained, and the list goes on and on. She still needs some training when it comes to pulling on the leash, and she can be a bit distrustful of strangers, but other than these minor issues, her behaviour is impeccable!
Cara is in an urgent situation, as I will be leaving the country soon which will leave her homeless once again.
Please consider giving Cara her forever home- she really deserves it!!
If you are unable to adopt Cara, but feel like you may be able to offer her a safe foster home for after I leave, please let me know. Also, if you know anyone who might be able to help in any way, please spread the word!
Sept. 2012:
This dog is absolutely amazing!
She has proven herself to be an extremely caring mother who is taking amazing care of her puppies, and at the same time, her affection toward people has continued to grow!
Although it's impossible to say for sure what her past was like, I have to assume that she was someone's pet at some point due to her excellent behaviour and her love of cuddling. She is completely house-trained and only barks when she hears someone at the door. She loves to go for walks and she no longer feels the need to bark at people passing by
It's also a bit difficult to properly gauge her true nature around other dogs as she now has her little ones to think about so she lifts her lips to the adult dogs in the house regularly. Although tensions have been running a bit high, I have yet to see any physical altercations between the dogs. One thing I can say for sure about her is that she is not real fond of sharing human attention with other dogs and she seems to have a somewhat dominant personality, so if she was to be the only dog in her forever family, that would probably be just fine!
If you are at all interested in possibly adopting Cara once her motherly duties have finished, please let me know as soon as you can, because I am seriously falling in love with this dog and could very well decide to keep her for myself!! ; )
UPDATE: Sept. 6, 2012
Congrats to new mom Cara on her new family of four adorable pups, who came into the world through emergency C-section last night. Cara seems to be recovering quite well and I think she will be a wonderful mother! If you want to invite Cara into your family, she will be available for adoption as soon as the puppies are old enough.
CARA:
This beautiful little girl comes from Karama, and her life before being picked up from the shelter on August 4, 2012 is a mystery. Since then, however, Cara's life has been a flurry of activity, beginning with a lengthy quarantine at a local vet, followed by moving into a new home with two other dogs to contend with, and most recently, finding out that she will be giving birth to what was estimated by the vet to be "many" (both a wry grin and a raised eyebrow were included in this revelation) puppies within approximately one month.
Anyhow, this profile is not about the puppies, who will all have their own profiles when they are ready to go to their forever homes. This is about Cara, who will also be looking for her perfect home once her motherly duties are complete, which is estimated to be toward the end of November.
Cara is just another example of the absolutely amazing individuals that can be found in animal shelters. First off, she seems to know the ropes when it comes to living in a home- she is house-trained and fairly quiet, which are two pretty important traits for a pet dog in Korea (or really anywhere, for that matter). She gets along fine with the other dogs, though she will grumble at them if they get too close to her when there’s food nearby, and she is quite relaxed on the leash. Her training goals for now are to be more accepting and less skittish of strangers, and to be gentle when taking treats from someone’s hand. So far, she is following her training exceptionally well!
Besides this, Cara has an intangible quality that is difficult to describe but that I get to experience each day when I return home from work to her beaming face and gentle kisses. She has an incredible capacity for affection, and extremely expressive eyes that consistently relay messages of gratitude and devotion. Cara seems to embody what it is about dogs that is so appealing to so many people.
Please keep this amazing girl in your thoughts over the next few months, and if you are thinking about welcoming a new addition to your family before the end of the year, please consider Cara.

Hi Clare- I really hope she knows what she's doing, 'cause I don't have a clue what I'm doing!!
She seems to be making herself pretty comfortable inside my closet when I leave the door open, but I'm trying to convince her to give birth in a little puppy box I made in the corner.
I think it will happen very soon!!

Cara got to play with her pups outside for the first time today!! She got a little over-zealous and bulldozed a couple of her puppies, but she was able to rein herself in pretty quickly!
