Don't be deceived by this teddy bear look, I am a personality plus dog, not just a stuffed animal. My name is Osoon because I am the 5th daughter and the baby of the family.
I am a mature, quiet lady (but NOT old!) who knows how to behave myself in your house. I'm not a silly puppy who piddles on the floor or chews up your slippers or ties you up with the leash. I may look like a teddy bear (is that a bit of Pomeranian in there?) but I cuddle WAY better than any stupid old toy. You know what my favorite thing to do with the human is? Get into her lap, put my paws on her chest, stare into her face with adoration and accept the petting I am due. I don't even get fur all over her black clothing like the other dogs do because I love being brushed, not that I even need it.
I have to be honest, I get along great with other animals, even those weird rodent-things the human has, but I'd like to be a single-pet diva if possible. Also, I'm not that keen on those small, screaming humans. They make me really nervous, trying to poke my eyes and running around making so much noise. I'm a quiet girl, and I prefer a quiet house where I can relax.
I've also been to that mean doctor person and am I very happy I don't need to go back for awhile. I'm "spayed," whatever that is, and have had my shots. I'm also on heartworm preventative pills (yum). I told you, I'm not old, and I'm in good health, so you don't have to worry about that.
Now, I have to be honest. I'm not perfect :( The human is concerned I wasn't well socialized as a baby, and I don't warm up to humans I don't know very quickly. She says this isn't my fault, but it makes me sad and nervous I can't make new friends easily. Sometimes I think new humans are scary! Once I realize they're not scary, I'm fine with them (some treat bribery helps as social lubricant - it's doggie alcohol :D). And when the human has gone out of town, I've gotten used to the petsitters too.
What I really want the most in this world is that human that I can love with all my heart and that will love me back. Is it you?
~*~
The Human here: Osoon has been in foster care for *seven* months now. She's come a long ways from where she was and she just needs a chance. She's such a great leash walker and so pretty people have to stop to compliment. Osoon has also been getting over her fear of strangers and has been willingly approaching people for pats! This is light years away from how she was before when everyone was super scary and out to get her. She's not perfect (at least not in this aspect- I think a lot of things about her are PERFECT - quiet, healthy, cuddly, loyal, well-behaved, etc.) but with the right person who is willing to work with her, she has the potential to be super dog!
She needs someone willing to work past that first shy, rocky few days to see the solid gold underneath!
Plus, you will be endlessly amused trying to describe her "style." Currently she's shed her undercoat and got a bath, so she's a beautiful, sleek chestnut color with buff colored pantaloons on her rearend.
~*~
If you're interested in adding Osoon to your family or have questions about her, please send me an email at [email protected]! This little girl has been waiting a long time to have her own family and home again.

Osoon loooooooooves the park. She even got her slightly - chunky fuzzbutt running a few times. She and I have an agreed idea about running - there is a time and place for it; like when you're being chased by a bear.

My friend came over last night to help me with some computer woes. To both of our amazement, Osoon came up to her and nudged her for attention! Osoon has met her a few times before and has allowed pats and treats, but soliciting affection is so awesome! Clearly she's realized that not all people are bad.

Recently I've started fostering another kitten (yay for spring; kittens kittens everywhere!) and Osoon spent last night playing a weird game of hide and seek with him. Despite being a terrier, she does so well with other animals! Rats, kittens and other dogs.

Osoon spent the evening cuddled up with my friend begging him for attention and trying to make sure she was touching both of us as much as possible. Surely someone out there is wanting a cuddly, devoted, well-behaved dog to love them! She's been at the shelter for so long and now in foster care. She needs that special someone to be her own!

Osoon had an amazing day at the park. She loves to go to the park so she can spend her time sniffing and waddling around in the clovers. Today a little girl and her mom and grandma came up to the dogs. Osoon actually went up to them on her own! She let the mom pet her but got spooked by the little girl and came back to me. She also let the halmoni down the street scratch her under the chin. Amazing. This is the dog that used to let no one touch her. She's come so far!

Put up the date Matthew. Sorry it's under the urgent notice but if I put it above people might be confused. Osoon might have (another) potential adopter. I'm being optimistic this time it's her special person. She's been passed over at least half a dozen times that I know of :(

Hello everyone! I am Osoon's adoptive mom.
It's been almost a week now since I've had her in my life and she has been absolutely darling and so well-mannered. It feels like I have had her for much longer than a few days. Everyone says how cute she is and she's always following me around the apartment and asking for pats. I renamed her Odessa to reference Sergei Eisenstein's "Battleship Potemkin" and to have something close to her original name. I realized yesterday that she doesn't warm up to people quickly until they have taken a walk with her. She seemed very wary of a friend of mine until we took a long two hour walk together along the riverbed and she soon started running up behind my friend and planting kisses on her legs...which only served to freak out my friend. She has recently gotten used to her new food and finishes it all before our daily walk. After our walk, she sits and waits politely for me to finish wiping her paws clean before trotting into the apartment. She never barks unless a stranger is at the door and I'm not at home with her. I only know this because I got a call from a deliveryman this morning while I was on my way to work and I could hear her barking in the background. Tomorrow I'll be taking her outside the city to the rural countryside to explore a temple area with some friends. I've asked several people and they all told me it would be okay as long as I make sure to clean up after her if she goes to the bathroom while we are there. I'm looking forward to seeing how she will do tomorrow. ^_^ In the meantime, I will leave you all with some pictures from the past few days.

Here are some photos I took of Odessa/Osoon yesterday on our little trip to a secluded river area in Hadong near Ssanggyesa Temple. It was an isolated area so I took the leash off and to everyone's surprise, she hopped into the shallow water. She stood there for a few seconds, looking around, and then climbed out to explore the rocks. We had to cut the trip short because we all had work to return to but it was the most athletic I've ever seen her. She was hopping from rock to rock like a pro and she's a pretty good climber.

Odessa is doing very well after heartworm treatment. Since the weather is still very hot and she seems to get very warm at night (and she had a bald spot on her back from where they shaved her for the injection), I trimmed her fur down. Now she gets a little chilly every time I turn on the air conditioner, so I got her a little outfit and a squeaky banana toy. She takes medicine twice everyday with her meal and she's not allowed to be active for two months. I only take her out briefly to relieve herself. The vet told me to keep her cool and he gave me some healthy treats to give her. They're like green biscuit pellets and Odessa loves them. The vet's assistants also love her because according to them, while she was with them for treatment, she was a "kind dog."

Hi everyone!
Thanks for all your past replies and well wishes for Odessa/Osoon.
She received another heartworm injection, her last one, and has just about finished up her post-medication. She has to go back to the vet tomorrow for a checkup. The first two days after she came back was very hard on her. The first time she had the injection she was fine but this time the injections were definitely having an effect on her. She was sluggish, short of breath, lost her appetite, and couldn't keep her food down so I went to the vet the next day and he gave me some pills to give her. She regained her appetite the next day and has gotten a lot better since. No more vomiting, hacking, and wheezing. I can't wait until I can take her on normal long walks. I think the boredom is causing her to lose her mind a little.

Odessa had her check up! She's not 100% heartworm free yet. The vet told me we won't know for sure until I bring her in to be tested in December. He said she only has antigens in her blood but only her blood and gave her a shot. She's started on Heartgard and being treated for a bad ear infection. Her dental scaling has been pushed back again due to all this. The vet wants to make sure she is completely heartworm free for dental scaling. In the meantime, I have to brush her teeth with an oral hygiene gel twice a day. She hates all this but she's gotten used to it. When I administer ear medication or brush her teeth, she comes over slowly and goes limp so I have to hold her up and do all the work. lol
I finally uploaded videos of Odessa. Just two for now. One is from a while back before the heartworm treatments and before I cut her fur down and the other is more recent.

Odessa is such a love sponge. She used to do that to me too! Cuddle, cuddle, cuddle - they, don't stop petting me. But the passive aggressive flop... haha. I hope her treatment tests come back negative. It can take up to 4 months after treatment to be clear, so you're vet is on the ball.

Hi, everyone! So Odessa finally got tested for heartworms again. Good news! The test was negative and the heartworms are gone. We also recently moved into our new apartment (the pet-friendly one) so she's been able to get walks daily without the stress of dodging the neighbors and landlord. Next on the list is dental scaling and keeping an eye on some infections (ears and recently UTI). Vet told me it's common for dogs to develop other health issues while recovering from heartworms. I wanted to ask what kind of dog food you all feed your dogs? I've been feeding Odessa Natural Core kibbles (Duck and Lamb) and sometimes mix in wet food but she's gotten so picky with her food I wanted to try something else. She'll eat up the canned wet food but spit out and avoid the kibbles. Maybe I should try soft kibbles? I think she isn't eating her dry food because her teeth are starting to bother her. Thanks and here are some pictures of Odessa.

Thanks for the happy update! :) Odessa is such a gorgeous girl!! :) Regarding food, I'm a big fan of Ziwipeak food (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/link/2208). It's all natural with no grains so it works well on any dogs with allergies or sensitivities and there are different flavors to choose from. All my animals (all 5) love it and the strays do too. The dry stuff is moist enough that you can bend it so it might be a little easier on Odessa's mouth. My dogs are senior and one has a broken jaw but she chews it up no problem. Hope that helps. :)

I'm so glad you can live in a place where you don't have to be on high alert all the time! It's really an awful situation to be in. My pup is having similar issues to Odessa with the teeth (since I had to take care of her legs and blood problem first). I've tried mixing in the wet and she just picks it out. Have you tried soaking the dry kibble with a little low or no-salt chicken broth, raw egg or some tuna juice? I've tried ziwipeak but it doesn't have enough carbs for my dog (she's underweight and the vet is having me feed puppy food); I don't think that's a problem for Odessa though, so you could give it a try.

Eveliens, I'm interested to hear more about your comment - was your dog not gaining weight on it? I haven't had any problem at all getting dogs to gain weight on Ziwipeak. Juniper was emaciated when I found her and she gained weight quickly on it. Animals don't tend to get fat on it because they stop eating it when they are full but weight gain has never bren an issue.

I'm pretty sure my dog has an eating disorder. She will only eat a food for two weeks, then she doesn't want it anymore. So I don't know how well ziwipeak would do because she stopped eating it. The vet is having me feed puppy food (with eggs and wet food) because it has a high calorie content. I'm sure for a normal dog this wouldn't be an issue.
