Description:

UPDATE 5 June 2013:
After so many people let her down, Roxy finally found what she deserved. A caring foster home & subsequently a forEVER home. Congratulations Roxy! Thank you Glenn & MJ for being such caring & competent foster parents. Without you, this could not have happened.

UPDATE 11 April 2013:
We are urgently looking for a foster home (or forever home) for Roxy. She has been repeatedly put into the wrong situations where she has not been able to flourish. I think Roxy would do best in a home without other animals, or perhaps with only one other (relaxed) dog. She should also not be placed with young children as she gets stressed around them. Please consider helping Roxy to find her special place in this world. Overseas adoptions are also a possibility! Please contact me on [email protected] for more information.

UPDATE 6 April 2013:
Roxy is looking for her forever home again. We also need to find her a foster home in the interim as she has not settled into life with 2 small boys very well. Roxy would be the perfect dog for someone who does not have kids. Please help us to get Roxy into the right home.

UPDATE 31 Jan 2013:
After her long wait, Roxy was finally adopted in the New Year by a wonderful family who have fallen head over heels in love with her, and her with them! Thank you to the Johnson family. I knew you'd come along eventually and I'm so happy Roxy has found you!

UPDATE 6 Jan 2013:
It's a new year and Roxy is about to start her new life! With who, you ask? Well, we don't quite know yet. Amazingly, no one has come forward for Roxy yet. I can't understand why! She will be coming straight from 2 solid months of live-in training at a specialised dog school!

She is friendly, clever, healthy and cute! After a little grooming session she'll be strutting her stuff likes nobody's business! Please consider fostering or adopting sweet Roxy. You won't regret it :)

UPDATE 28 Dec 2012:
Oh my goodness! You simply MUST see the videos posted in the comments section below. Allison and Amanda went to visit Roxy today and videoed some of her new skills. I loved every second I spent watching them! Incredible, especially considering there were 2 - 3 other dogs running around in the same area while she was "performing", 2 of whom she has never met. GO ROXY! Surely someone will want you in their home? You're so clever AND adorable! Not to mention that you have a chubby happiness about you combined with the world's wiggliest bottom! <3

UPDATE 22 Dec 2012:
Roxy is a bundle of joy! She is healthy, well-mannered and is looking for a home to call her own. She is ready!

Thanks to an extremely generous donation from Katelin, Roxy was able to stay in her "school" for a second month! This is not because she needs to be at school now but because we don't want to send her back to the shelter and she's got nowhere else to go.

Last weekend, two volunteers went to visit Roxy at school and took some videos of her. Here she is, full of energy and a little chubby! Clearly the school is feeding her well. She looks extremely happy and bouncy, but I bet she's a darn good snuggler and chillaxer too! :)

If you would like to foster Roxy, please read the Asan Fostering Guideline: http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/blog/allisondyoung/fostering-a-guidelin...
and then complete the application form: http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application and e-mail it to Clare & Allison (contact details below).

If you would like to adopt Roxy, please read the Asan Adoption Guideline: http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/blog/allisondyoung/adoption-guideline-f... and then complete the application form: http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application and e-mail it to Clare & Allison (contact details below).

Roxy has until the 16th of January 2013 to find that special someone. I know she won't disappoint you!

UPDATE 28 NOV 2012:
I received an update from Roxy's school teacher and she is doing great! Here is what he said: "She is healthy, eating well, taking walks, training are all good. Now her face and behaviour is getting brighter than before." This weekend a friend and fellow ARK member will go and visit her so we will know more. See below in the comments section for some cute photos of Roxy having a blast at school!

UPDATE 20 NOV 2012:
Exciting news for Roxy! From some generous donations we have managed to send Roxy to doggy school for one month. Here she will learn all sorts of good behaviour, confidence and good manners. I cannot wait to hear her progress! She has only been there a few days so as soon as I hear anything I will keep you posted. :)

UPDATE 9 NOV 2012:
Roxy is being boarded while we seek a foster home for her. Please consider giving this sweet girl the loving home she deserves. Roxy's initial fosters sent her back because she regressed in her house training. (Initially she was doing great.) Both my vet and a professional trainer I have consulted feel that this was due to severe stress in her environment. Roxy needs a home with plenty of positive reinforcement. She is a very happy, friendly little girl with a very waggy tail! All she asks is for some security and patience. She spent a great deal of time living outdoors in the shelter after being abandoned - she needs to be gently reminded of the things that go along with living in a home again. Please consider helping this little girl!

UPDATE 29 OCT 2012:
Roxy's temporary foster parents have asked me to find her a new foster home. She has gained some weight and is back in good shape. Now all she needs is a place where she can receive TLC, patience and positive reinforcement as she can get stressed easily. Roxy wants to feel secure and loved...as all of us do. Please consider fostering her!

UPDATE 7 OCT 2012:
Roxy went into temporary foster care today to get some weight on her. She needs to get some fat on those bones!

UPDATE 27 Sept 2012:
I visited Roxy again last night. Poor little girl is desperate to get out of that cage!! She has lost weight because of her vomiting and diarrhea but this has now STOPPED (yay!!) and she is eating well. Today she starts a nice combination of nutritional supplements to go with her yummy food to help her get nice and healthy again. She is still urgently looking for a foster home. We have only enough funds to keep her at the hospital until the Thursday after Chuseok (4 October). If you are interested in fostering this little girl, please complete the application form (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application) and e-mail it to me at [email protected].

UPDATE 25 Sept 2012 (pm):
I went to the vet again today. Roxy has stopped vomiting but she still has diarrhea. The vet did a parvo/corona test which thankfully came back negative. He thinks the diarrhea is just stress, change of food etc. She has until the 4th of October at the vet so we hope to find a foster home for her before then! Please share her profile!

UPDATE 25 Sept 2012 (am):
I went to check on Roxy yesterday. Unfortunately she had been sick with diarrhea and vomiting so the other treatments (for ears and eyes) could not be started. I went in at 5pm and the doctor said she hadn't had any more vomiting or diarrhea since 11am so let's hope she will make a quick recovery from whatever it was. I will update more later. Please keep her in your thoughts and let's find her a foster home!

==============================================================

Roxy is one little sweetie you NEED in your life! This girl has the waggiest tail I think I've EVER seen! Her whole little body wags along with her tail! She also has manners! She sits nicely while waiting for a treat, takes treats ever so gently and I'd be willing to bet that she is house-trained.

Roxy is a young spaniel with an adorable personality. We've always noticed Roxy in the cocker pen, giving us those adorable eyes that plead "choose me! Please choose me!" Then on our last shelter trip, Roxy had a little "episode" in the form of a seizure. We rushed her to the doctor and she had a full health check. This is what he said:

1. The seizure: In dogs, 50% of seizures are idiopathic (arising from an unknown cause). The only thing we can do now is monitor her and if it happens again, take her in to the vet asap. The same thing has happened with another dog who is now in foster care and luckily it has not happened again.
2. She has an ear infection with some discharge and inflammation. This is being treated by the vet.
3. She has conjunctivitis and a third eyelid infection. This is being treated by the vet.
4. She has a nutrient deficiency. This is seen by the colour of her gums, the flakiness of her skin, and a blue-grey colour around her nipples. She needs to be fed a nutritious diet with supplements. This is being started by the vet and will need to be continued in her next home.

Please help us not to send Roxy back to the shelter! This sweet girl clearly needs some TLC.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting her, please complete the application form (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application) and don't hesitate to contact me on [email protected].

Roxy is currently being boarded at the vet but the funds for this will not last for much longer.

I'm just curious.. I think it was yesterday, it said she was 'house trained' but it's gone now. Does that mean, she was but had regressed? Was that a typo? Just wondering..

I would love to have some info on this sweetie. Has she had any introduction to cats? She's so sweet; love the videos of that wiggly little tail nub.

jennyjohnson83's picture

Hi DanaFanel,

Since Roxy's been with us, she's only been around cats when we go to the Vet or Pet Store. Cats are always wandering around but she has never paid much attention to them...^^

marlajoy's picture

Poor Roxy! It's always so heartbreaking when things don't work out! Here's hoping the next family is forever!! :)

Amanda-n-Leeloo's picture

DanaFanel, it is AWESOME that you are interested in Roxy!! Please remember that you will need to fill out an application and send it to Clare or Allison before you are able to take Roxy!

DanaFanel's picture

... * headsmack* Gosh, I am idgit. Will do.

jennyjohnson83's picture

Thanks, Amanda! I was just about to ask if there were any procedures we had to go through if we wanted to try and do this trial weekend thing.

So Dana has to fill out an application, it's has to be approved, and then we can try this weekend (maybe two weekends) sleepover thing. Am I right?

Karen's picture

Hi folks, I've removed a few comments to declutter this thread. Please discuss scheduling and logistics privately. Thank you!

clare_bell's picture

Thanks Amanda. DanaFanel I received your application, thank you! I've been horribly sick and will get back to you ASAP.

jennyjohnson83's picture

Hi everyone!

Roxy really is the sweetest dog! She has a great personality and temperament! Her only downside (which is a BIG downside for us) is that she doesn't seem to do well with LITTLE children - with ours at least! My boys keep her on her feet and cause her quite a bit of stress. They are 2.5 and 5 years old, so they are still a bit too young to understand the RULES. Especially our youngest, he just doesn't get that she's REAL and not a toy. Or that she doesn't know how to wrestle like his brother and dad.

She's not hyper, not attention seeking, always wants to lounge around, loves to sit next to you or ON you^^, and she REALLY enjoys her naps! She is a healthy dog with a very good apetite. She loves to go out on walks and LOVES to be off leash, however, she rarely gets that opportunity, since we live where there are a lot of people and cars. I so wish we had a backyard!

She has had several seizures in the past, but according to the vet and the numerous articles and reviews we've read, Cocker Spaniels are at the top of the list for dogs that this can happen to. Her health is fine and is not effected by them, so the vet didn't recommend us putting her on medication (as that costs money to purchase and there can be negative side effects from taking them). The important thing to remember when/if a seizure happens, is to leave her alone and make sure that she isn't around anything that can fall/harm her.

Roxy isn't fully housebroken, however, has come a LONG WAY since the day we got her!^^ She is being trained to ONLY release OUTSIDE. We used to have to take her out EVERY 2-3 hours, but now, she only needs to be taken out 3 times a day. Usually 7:30am, 1:30pm, and again at 8:30pm. She does still have accidents every once in a while, but they are only on the floor. She USED TO leave us a nice present on our SOFA!!!!!! But this doesn't happen anymore.

Please consider giving this girl the life she so desperately deserves! She will fill your life with such happiness and love! If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact myself, Clare and/or Allison!^^
