Excellent news! KAPS approved adopters for Lucy. We met with them today. It was a lovely visit. She will move in with them on Saturday. :D
Lucy is a sweet dog. She likes to be around people especially when she can sit on your lap. She enjoys being brushed. She is very curious on her walks and often stops to play with ants, smell the grass or try to say hello to passers-by. Her favorite treats include small pieces of canned meat and denta-bones. She enjoys sleeping in a crate near me at night. She is popular with people of all ages and gets smiles and hellos wherever she goes. She has a very calm temperament for a dog so young. People that meet her for the first time are surprised at how calm she is around strangers and other dogs.
I'm not sure what breed she is. Her face looks somewhat like a Pomeranian but she is most likely a mix. After much googling she looks most like a Toy American Eskimo. (Googling "Toy American Eskimo Dog" will produce what could be her twins or this picture from the wikipedia page for this breed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:American-Eskimo-dog.jpg) She is quite cute nonetheless. She is small now but will most likely get a little bigger. The vet said she will be full size by 8 or 9 months. I'm curious as to how big she will get!
She will make a very good pet for someone. She is quite small and doesn't need lots of space just lots of company and love.

Lucy is spayed! Good news, Lucy was spayed on Saturday. She did well and is recovering nicely. She will have follow up visits today, tomorrow and Wednesday. If all goes well her stitches will be removed on Saturday. She is a really good dog. Active, friendly and playful.

Lucy is doing great! We dog sat for Bali (also looking for a forever home) over Chuseok break and the dogs did really well together. :) A good sign if you have a dog already and are looking for a second dog.
Health wise Lucy is doing really well. She gets heartworm prevention every month. She is up to date on all vaccines. Her next shots aren't due now until next year and will only be yearly from here on out. She is also getting spayed this weekend so after that her health costs will be very minimal if this is a concern or consideration for you. :) She is 8 1/2 months old now and weighs around 3.6 kg.
**July 23, 2013** Very good pet-sitting experience :)
Lucy stayed with a friend of mine this weekend and she did really well! She was quiet, didn't have any accidents and was not bothered by his air conditioning. He loved having her around and said she is a really nice dog. This definitely is a good sign she will adjust well in her forever home.
She is still available for adoption right now. Please email [email protected] for more info about the application and adoption process. I will be on vacation from July 27th through August17th during which time Lucy will be with a sitter. I will be available for visits once I am back from vacation.
Lucy also went to the vet last week for vaccinations. She is very healthy and I'm happy to say she now weighs 3.3 kg. :)
**July 2, 2013**
Lucy is doing great! She is almost 6 months (on July 11th). She is happy and healthy. Her cough is a lot better since being on meds last week. I'm posting some new pictures. She is all clean and fluffy from her bath. I can't say enough what a calm, loving playful personality she has. She is well adjusted and does well on her own at home and navigating large crowds and new people and sounds on our walks downtown to the vet.
**June 25, 2013**
Lucy's coughing at night has gotten slightly worse so I took her to the vet today. She has a mild fever. She is now on meds again for mild fever and cough. I asked if it was something more serious but the vet doesn't seem worried. (I mentioned allergies or bronchitis, he just laughed). He says she has a weak trachea which is common among small/toy breed dogs. He does think her trachea will get stronger and better as she gets older. Otherwise Lucy is her usual, playful, energetic, loving self (she's playing as I write this :P Clearly unfazed by her cough) I'll keep the updates coming.
**June 18, 2013**
Lucy is still looking for her forever home! She is really a lovely dog. I take her downtown when I am running errands and she is always calm and unfazed by all the people and things going on and always stays close to me as well as constantly looking up and checking with me on what to do. She still coughs sometimes but it is getting less frequent. She is also putting on weight which is very good. She weighed 2.2 kg when I first got her but at last measurement last week now weighs 2.8 kg. She does well with people and always wants to make new friends. She can even ride the escalator! Though it takes a little pulling to get her on, once she is on she doesn't mind at all. She love love loves to play as well and has many toys to keep her busy and entertained.
** May 27, 2013**
Lucy is really blossoming! She has so much more energy (she has put on a lot of healthy weight) and is really becoming a "typical puppy". She loves to play, even more than last week (which I didn't think was possible). Her newest cute thing is to flop down in my lap for a quick cuddle when she brings me the ball when we are playing catch. She is sweet and full of love. We also had a doggy play date this weekend with a friend. She did really well too. Her friend is a 3 +/- year old shih tzu. She was playful but also respectful. Her adult teeth are starting to come in, so chewing is her new favorite thing! She also had her nails trimmed for the first time last week and didn't even flinch. I don't even thing she noticed. She was just enjoying the attention from the two nurses. She is definitely at the perfect age to be adopted to her forever home! She continues to walk on a leash very well and we have started basic commands such as sit, stay and come. She learns very quickly! Don't hesitate if you want more information or if you would like to meet her :)
**General Update** (May 21, 2013)
Lucy is doing really well! She gets more comfortable by the day. She remains her sweet meek self. I'm glad that she has come out of her shell and is much more playful! The first few days she wasn't interested in playing but she now enjoys squeaky toys and playing catch with a ball. She also has more energy as she has gained some weight and her kennel cough, though not completely gone, is much better than before. She walks well on a leash and loves to be outside and meet new people. I can tell she will be a very loyal dog. She looks to me for permission to do everything (when we can come inside the apartment, she will wait until I have put away my things before going inside, when we can go in the elevator etc.) She will do very well in an apartment building. She doesn't mind the elevator at all and has even learned to get ready to go out the door when the voice tells the floor we are on :)
**Health update** (May 14, 2013)
Lucy is in good health. She is 4 months old. She had her first round of vaccines yesterday and will be going back in 2 weeks for the next shots in the series of vaccines she needs. She has also had her first treatment for heart worm. No fleas or parasites :) The vet said that she can be fixed between 6 and 8 months of age. If you are interested in adopting her before she is fixed I am happy to do that. You would then need to have her fixed after you adopt her. From what I've heard it generally costs around 300,000W for the operation.
I will keep more updates and pictures coming! Feel free to contact me at any time or to set up a meeting to meet Lucy or if you want to know more about her. :)

Lucy looks like she could be part Japanese Spitz. She reminds me of my dog Lois. She has the same head but her body seems more slight. She looks beautiful. American Eskimo Dog's are somewhat similar to Spitzs but I think the Spitz is more common in Korea.

You could be right Lois! As I said, I'm only guessing as to her breed. She is quite cute, no matter what her breed may be. :)

Her size is the only thing that makes it difficult. Japanese spitzes are 7 to 8 kg at adult and Lucy is only 3.5 kg at 7 months. She will probably only be 4.5 to 5 kg as an adult.

I got an email from Lucy's family and she is doing great! Keeping up with their active lifestyle (hikes, jogging, dog parks), she's friendly with other dogs and is doing well being off her leash! I'm sooo happy for her and her new family :)
