Description:

March 9: Juniper has been sucked into the black hole that is my family! :) Of the 5 animals I have fostered in Korea, I've only managed to give up 1. The other 4 (of which Juniper is now included) have become a forever member of my family. Seems I'm a terrible foster mom but pretty good at providing a multi-species home full of love and fun! :) Juniper has melted so perfectly and seamlessly into this family that I cannot ever imagine giving her up. I didn't think it was possible for another animal to be as loving and accepting as the ones I already had but Juniper proved me wrong. She is the sweetest, most innocent dog I could ever hope for and I could never imagine separating her from her friends/play buddies/cuddle buddies/soul mates: Brody, Gray, Alexis and Chloe. Welcome to the family, Juniper!! :)

Juniper is love. She gives and receives love freely, with an open heart. Seriously, she would be the best gift you could ever possibly hope for! She loves all animals, big or small, regardless of species so she would make a perfect companion for your dog or cat. If you've got a big heart and are looking for the same in a dog, this dog is definitely for you! :)

Why has not a single person shown interest in amazing Juniper?! What more could you possibly want?! This dog is super smart, super sweet and super amazing! Juniper's whole goal in life is to get you to love her. She looks at me with such love and adoration it's hard to believe how she was when we first met. There is nothing she wants more in life than to please and be loved in return. This makes her a breeze to train. In the short time I have had her, she has learned:
-how to walk nicely with two other dogs on a leash,
-how to only pee outside or on pee pads in the bathroom (sometimes she drinks a lot and can't wait the 6 hours I am away from home),
-how to sit nicely in her bed if I tell her, "go to your bed" when she is getting too excited,
-how to share her food and toys with my other animals,
-how to walk up and down stairs (she was terrified before),
-how to sit nicely if she wants something, and
-how to interact nicely with other animals (excitedly pawing them in the face doesn't go over well).

Her history:

One day while out walking my own two dogs I found a sweet little dog living the life of so many dogs in Korea - chained to a post, eating the once a week bowl of rotten rice and kimchi, forced to drink disgusting, filthy water, and super skinny and unhealthy looking. I wasn't cool with that and neither was Juniper so we decided to join forces and get her out of there. For two months, I visited her every day, giving her fresh food and water, socializing her with my dogs and training her to walk on a leash. I was as friendly as I could be with the family in the hopes that they would one day let me take her and find her a loving home. That day finally arrived!!!!

I took her home with me and my animals and named her Juniper because of the amazing ability of Juniper trees to grow out of a rock in the middle of the desert. Those trees can stay strong and beautiful despite the harsh circumstances, just like sweet Juniper!! I thought it was fitting. :)

The current situation:

I am happy to say that Juniper is now a healthy, happy, spirited dog (scroll down to see her videos)! She LOVES my dogs and cats (she and my cat, Brody, play endlessly); she loves me and she loves going for walks. She is at a healthy weight (though still pretty thin), has healthy teeth and gums, and is around 4 years old. In the time she has lived with me and my 2 cats and 2 dogs, she has adjusted amazingly well and really couldn't be better company. All she needs is the love of a forever family who would never think to leave her behind or re-home her because of housing or job issues. She needs someone who will stick by her side forever and ever, no matter what!! I am going to be very particular about the home she ends up in because after all she has been through, she deserves nothing but the best.

Check out a video of Juniper. She plays well with my cats and dogs; she always comes when her name is called; she is well-behaved and loves play time and affection. You'd never know she was living chained up outside just a few days ago!! She really is awesome!! :)

Juniper is learning sit and stay. As you can see in the video she's not 100% yet but she'll get there soon. She learns so quickly! :) https://

Hi! :) If you are interested, you need to send me an adoption application. :) Just as a quick question: do you have any other animals? If not, you won't be a good fit for Juniper.

Kubikiccio's picture

Hi! No, I don't have any other animals and I'm not going to get... If it's crucial for Juniper, you're right I'm not a very good fit for her, though love animals madly.... Nevertheless thank you and hope Juniper will find her family soon

Ok, thanks :) Juniper really enjoys being with other animals so I definitely want that to continue.

Marla you're such an animal lover, i think she will be very happy with you. She looks so happy on the video being able to run all over the house. I don't understand why korean are so cruel with animals, letting them chain all their life like this... I mean if you don't like animals fine, but don't take one then ! It's like they're not living being for them, just objects. I've never experienced so much animal cruelty before moving here. In France everyone loves animals, and of course you have some bad cases, or some irresponsable poeple, but it's not very common, not like here. That's a side of Korea i will never get used to. Fortunately we have all the ARK community to help those poor animals, and you Marla, you're one of the very bests.

Thanks, Leslie! :) Yeah, I find it hard to understand too but I'm happy I at least saved Juniper from a life on a chain. :)

Juniper is getting spayed this Saturday. :) Wish her luck! :)

Good luck, Juniper! Lucky little girl. ^^

Juniper's surgery went well but we found out she has heartworms. I'm opting for the slow-kill method rather than the injections which can be extremely dangerous and very hard on the body. But, in two years she should be free of them.
