Magnificent Myungju is HUGE. Believe me, the pictures do not show his size!! He seems to be a great dane mixed with a pointer. He's like a little horse!
And he is fabulous. He's so friendly and gentle even though he is enormous.
He was in a horrible state when he was rescued off the streets in Ulsan. His skin and hair were destroyed, he had awful open wounds on his legs and was terribly unwell.
Now, he is doing great. He's being kept indoors as he's still recovering from his surgeries and wounds but he's in great condition. I am covered in mud from playing with him just now. He is friendly and loves a hug.
Here is his Korean profile on EFL's site.http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fm.cafe.naver.com%2FArticleR...

Myungju is still hanging around, being gentle and friendly and waiting for someone to take him home!

Myungju is surprisingly calm and gentle for his size. He is very strong though so would need a strong owner! He seems to be almost fully recovered from his wounds. He likes other dogs and shows no agression at all. He's such a giant sweetheart. How are we going to find a home for Magnificent Myungju?

I would love to come see him. Where is the shelter? Near Ilsan?

Hi skylar,
Yes, the gentle giant is in ilsan. The shelter is bear lake park. Are you familiar with ilsan?

No I'm not at all. I live in Bucheon, but would really be interested in fostering him/possibly adopting him and taking him back to the states.

BUCHEON is near. We have another volunteer who lives in Bucheon. Perhaps she could bring you to meet myungju. I'll get in touch with her. He's huge tho...much bigger than he looks in pics. He would need a custom made crate etc and would have to fly cargo. He also would never be able to go in public transport in this country!! Do you have a car?

That would be great.
A friend of mine has a car. A custom crate, wow he must be big. How much food does he eat a day?

Skylar, if you are coming today, head to Lake Park in Ilsan. When you cross over the lake you will see a big MBC studios on the left (after the intersection). You have to do a uturn on the bridge at the intersection and cross back over the lake. Then you will see a sign for KINTEX and a slip road to the right. The shelter is at the top of the slip road. You'll see a green fenced area and a yellow sign. That's a boarding facility. The shelter is out the back. Any problems, call me on 010 77376089 or Kieran on 010 8571 2979

My great dane cost me $2,000 to bring to Korea by cargo (it was either delta or united...I can't remember). The customs fees cost me another $200. The only flights that could handle her crate size were leaving from SanFrancisco, so she had to be driven there from Salt Lake City (where I had originally hoped to fly her out of). She costs ten times what a normal sized dog would cost, and I bet shes smaller than myungju, so I just wanted the new owner to know this so he/she isnt heartbroken when they realize they might not have the necessary funds to bring him home.
Also, her crate cost $400, and her shots plus outrageous titer test cost $200.
(I also flew her from Atlanta airport to Salt Lake City and that ended up being $900+ , but that was a year earlier)
I'm sure a lot of people know how expensive shipping larger dogs are already, but I was completely unaware when I got her that she would cost so much. She was worth every penny though!

Wow.
THanks for that information Jenny. His potential adopter intends to stay in Korea for at least ten years so that's good to know!
