Udate June 15
Nyx got adopted by a wonderful married couple who already had one rescue dachshund. I've received videos of her playing with him (That's something she never did with our big dog) and pictures of her stealing his food. (Some habits die hard.) This is by far my happiest adoption. I got so attached to her so quickly and I'm so happy to see her in such a wonderful forever home! :D
Update June 11
It is apparent that Nyx is not Spayed and thus we need to find her a home sooner rather than later. As our male dog keeps messing with her a lot. The 100,000 won adoption fee is just to pay for her previous vet visit. She received ear medication which her infection is gone now. The fee will also included the Shampoo that you use once every 1-2 week and the oatmeal spray for her skin that I spray on once a day. There is nothing obviously wrong with her skin she's just sensitive and the spray helps her skin.
_____________________________________________________________
Nyx arrived at our home on May 31st as well as another foster dog. We hadn't planned on taking them both, but things happened, and they both ended up with us. Our other foster is a pitbull about a year old and I was very anxious about how the two would get along, but they're great together. The vet think is about 3 or 4 years old.
She's very patient and indifferent to him chewing her ears, licking her, getting too excited and just pushing her out of the way. I've been around lots of Dachshund's in my life as my grandmother always rescued them. I'd imagine I've gotten to know about 20 Dachshunds very well, ad they've all had a special place in my heart with they're stubborn traits and the love of being under a blanket and right beside you.
Nyx is shows all the traits I love in Dachshunds. She'll bark at dogs ten times her tiny 3 kg self. If you're sitting she's sitting with you and by with I mean on if at all possible. She loves attention, but unlike most she doesn't seek it out from strangers, but they stare for too long then she'll bark demanding they pet her. And her bark, even her bark is sweet and not at all scary or intimidating as she might think.
I honestly can't understand how someone could ever give away such a loving dog. She's only been with us a week, but I know giving her up will be the hardest thing I've done. She is nothing but love. She greets me at the dog and does her happy oh-god-you're-finally-home whine for about minute a full while I take her out.
But truth be told, if you're looking for that perfect picturesque Dachshund she would have been the one--before she was on the streets, which apparently she was living on the streets for a long time by the length of her nails. Now she has scars on one of her ears (possibly frostbite or animal bites) as well as one or two on her body. I've been putting vitamin E oil on them to help them. How she survived I honestly can't fathom.
The vet shaved her body and once her hair grows back and she continues to gain weight I'm sure she'll be stunning, even though her personality shines though so much that even strangers have a fit over her now. She is getting sprayed twice a day with an oatmeal medicine to help her skin and she was on medicine for an ear infection.
I'm tearing up as I write this just thinking about giving her away. This is a dog who has stolen my heart within in a few hours... which is something that doesn't happen easily. I'm telling you, she'll have your heart in moments and all you'll want to do is spoil her.
