My co-worker recently moved back to the USA. A couple days before he left, he and his wife passed a small, fluffy white dog that was tied to a tree outside Daejeon City Hall. After passing him multiple times in several hours, it became obvious that the poor little guy had been abandoned. It was getting dark and colder, so David and his wife took the dog home for the night.
After calling several people for help, David had to send Kit (I’m calling him that because he looks like a little white fox) to Daejeon city shelter. I told David I would follow-up with this and do what I could to get him out, otherwise he would stay in the shelter until someone happened to adopt him or he died.
He's under 7kg, so pretty small but not tiny. He seems to be a Japanese Spitz mix (?) and his fur is a soft as a cotton ball. When David had him and when I saw him, he was a little shy, but still friendly; didn't bark in their house or when I walked him; walked nicely on a leash but was a bit nervous around car traffic, and is house-trained. He was clean and seemed well-fed, so he probably wasn't an outdoor dog. He also sat in David lap and my lap as still and quiet as a sleeping child.

What a cutie! He looks EXACTLY how my japanese spitz (also a rescued treasure) looked when he was younger. If that's what he is then someone is in for a treat- Affectionate, very smart, loyal, funny and that beautiful coat is deceptively easy to care for. I would love to take him myself but I can't have two dogs in my appartment either. Best of luck finding this handsome boy a home. I'm sure it won't take long!!!!

That's great news for Kit! You can take him off the "For foster" list by clicking the Edit tab on this profile and selecting 'No' to the question 'Needs foster home'. Fingers crossed the adoption application works out, too.

Well, busted Kit out of 'jail' today^^. The Daejeon shelter staff was very nice and kind. Kit had gotten a bit of a runny nose with the cold nights, so, to be safe, they tested him for distemper--negative. They also gave me a week's worth of anti-biotics for him. We luxuriated in a taxi ride all the way home and went to the vet (which was not as much fun. . .). I had every test known to man done in addition to a complete blood work-up and, to my surprise and amazement, Kit is healthy on all fronts. Everything was negative--including heartworms(!)--and his liver and kidney functions are good. I like posting good news.

Well, poor Kit was only in his foster home for 3 days and had to go back to the vet. He was coughing more, developed a slight fever and was a bit lethargic--the vet diagnosed bronchitis. He's been in a climate-controlled room and getting nebulizer treatments everyday. I go see him at least once and usually twice a day. After a week, his fever is gone, he's more active, his appetite is good, and he's playing more (wanted to play tug-o-war with my sweatshirt yesterday^^), so I think he's on the mend. He's still coughing, but that will take a few weeks to abate.
Kit's good news--he has an adoptive dad who will be picking him up this week-end!! Kit will be able to finish his recuperation in a warm, loving, stable home with a wonderful patient human companion.

Did Kit move to his new home yet? Once the adoption is official you can move this listing to the Adopted gallery by editing his adoption status. Fingers crossed he's adjusting well!

Kit actually went home with his new 'dad' a couple days early. He's still recuperating from bronchitis but he'll be in a home with a companion who can give him the care he needs until he's completely healthy.. . and then love him forever!
