Lani, the smiling dog.
UPDATED: Lani made it through the winter, and she is smiling again. Lani is sweetness, through and through. If you'd like to come meet her, she would love it. Lani really wants to please. I would guess that she would be very easy to train and that she would most likely get along well with other dogs. Other volunteers have said it, and me too: Lani is a diamond in the rough. A little grooming, a safe home, some love, she's going to be a beautiful and wonderful member of the family.
ORIGINAL POSTING from several months ago:
One look at her face will change your whole outlook. Lani is all smiles, and full of energy, fun, and cuddles. When I tagged my photos from the shelter last Saturday, I put "The joyful dog" on hers. Many of the volunteers were taken with her last Saturday. She is new at Asan shelter. As I learn more about her story, I will post it. She is available for adoption or a foster home to help her make it thru the brutal Korean winter coming.

Lani is a very sweet natured and active girl. She is always wagging her tail, she is very appreciative doggie. We believe she will settle in a new home very well.

Lani got walked today. She is going to be so (even more) beautiful once she gets groomed and has a bath. She is very curious about what's going on around her--a little bit of a busy body in a cute way.

Lani is still available--she is spending her first harsh, cold and scary winter at the shelter in her cage.
I am so happy when I see her smiling face. Isn't she a diamond in the rough? She is waiting for the perfect person to see how special she is.

This gorgeous girl had a lot of TLC from Tatiana yesterday and she loved it! She was in a terrible state in terms of her coat - matted clumps of fur all over her. We took before and after pics...watch this space for the "extreme makeover" :)

Photos from today's shelter visit. Lani was in a cage before and now she's in a pen with other dog buddies. A LOT of dog buddies. She has so much potential. Lani is very young. I would guess closer to 2 than 3 years old. She is still very easy to walk--no pulling at all, and she appreciates but is not demanding of attention. Good news is that she made it through her first cold winter at the shelter; bad news is she's still waiting for a home. She's less smiley these days but I'm sure she'll be back to her old self once she finds a home and somebody to love.

I agree! She could use some professional grooming. It would make all the difference. She's a beautiful gal. I hope the next tme the groomers make it up there, that she is chosen.
I haven't been up to the shelter in a long time so Im not sure. Her profile photo is from Allison's recent trip, and she looks happy in it on the day of the volunteers coming out. She was a little sad for a while but seems to have her happiness back.

With sadness I can't describe, I am sad to report that Lani died. I was told by Sofia that nobody knows why. Goodbye, Lani. (I dont' think I can do animal rescue work anymore :(
