Description:

Have a lot of love to give and to be loved in return? This little guy has so much love to give. I mean just look at that face. How could you not just fall in love with him.
Bailey is a 3 or 4 year old Shih Tzu. He is brown and white. He has soft fluffy fur and big, sweet brown eyes. When he looks at you, you understand where the saying puppy eyes came from. They'll make you melt.
Bailey has a wonderful temperament. He is super sweet. He likes to cuddle up at night and he's always so thrilled when I come home. He wants nothing more than to have his chin scratched by his favorite person. That person could be you :)
He is a pretty relaxed dog. He rarely barks and is happy just curling up on a rug. He is looking for a good playmate though. He enjoys playing ball and tug-o-war. He is also pretty content playing by himself. He enjoys chewing stuffed animals. However, his favorite thing to do is go on walks. He gets so excited when he sees his leash. It is just the cutest thing.
Bailey's previous owner trained him to go to the bathroom outside. I will be getting him fixed shortly.

Update 4/19/12
Bailey loves children. We we to the park the other day and a little boy came up to play with him. Bailey just loved it. He is also very friendly around other dogs. He doesn't bark or growl. He's so much fun at the park :)

Update 4/28/12
Bailey almost has all his shots. He doesn't know it yet but it'll be getting fixed here soon, too.

5/9/2012
Bailey is now up to date on all his shots. He is in good health.

Bailey is just the most wonderful dog! I had the pleasure of grooming him a bit before he went home with Amanda. He was so calm and really enjoyed the attention :)

Bailey's adopter shared,

"We are working on getting him to come and sit and he's doing better. I honestly couldn't ask for a better dog. I was a bit worried at first before we got on the train. I was afraid we would be asked to get off because of his barking. However, he has been wonderful."

The day Bailey was adopted, he barked quite a bit prior to boarding the train. I talked his adopter through what to do and things went smoothly ^^

If ever you travel with a barking pup, I advise:

  1. Be calm and confident. Act cool and collected as though nothing is wrong. Many times people will just look the other way if there is no serious problem and it is just noise.
  2. While I do not recommend this method at home and for training, it works if you're in a pinch and with a dog who has just been moved to a sudden unfamiliar environment and under slight stress. Pet him. Give him calming attention. Use soft words and just pet him and soothe him. Give treats if they calm down.
  3. Should your travel neighbors be distressed, calmly move you and the pup. For trains, move to the middle section for a few moments. Just give the people a bit of relief and come back later - certainly come back if/when barking ends. For buses, if there is a pit stop, take advantage of it. Have the pup securely leashed and let him stretch. Give him pets and calming words and treats. If there are no pit stops, ride it out.
  4. Try to explain simply. In a pinch I would use broken Korean to say, "I adopted today." and point to the dog and say, "Stress." How to say this, "나는 입양 오늘. 스트레스." (Na-neun eeb-yang o-neul. Steuressuh." But try to find a better translation to be prepared ; )
  5. Should things escalate, get off at the next stop and take another bus OR call a taxi or a friend or the adopter... someone who can help you two get safely home.
  6. Anyway we are so pleased Bailey found such a wonderful home! KAPS appreciates all the work our foster, Bailey (Amanda), did to get him back to health and give him such wonderful care ^^
