Koala [the pooch formerly know as Lucky] was rescued from death row with the help of the ARK community.
What to say about this lovely gal? The first thing you notice about her is her puppyish looks and charm! She has oversized feet, an oversized head and is super fluffy with a cheerful smile. This poor little girl was someone's pet once upon a time and wants a new family to call her own!
She's a very nice house guest who isn't a big barker and doesn't chew anything or destroy the house. She doesn't get into the trash or jump on the furniture. She's housebroken with amazing bladder control! She loves her toys and will collect them in her crate or a bed. She loves her crate! It's her special place to hang out in. She's very smart, and once she trusts you, she is very interested in listening. She's not a big dog at all and IMO she'd the perfect size at about 5kg. Even though she likes walks, she's just as happy to hang out inside and play with her toys or chew on a bone.
She really needs a foster or adoptive home that can work with her one-on-one because she has a few quirks (don't we all?):
-resource guarding. I have basically worked with her on this, but her new home will also have to work with her. It's not a difficult process, it just takes a few extra minutes when you feed her.
-other animals. She was not socialized well as a puppy. Introduction to new HOUSEHOLD animals must be done with caution. She is mostly okay with animals outside the house.
Vet Work Done
-boosters for annual vaccines [DHPPL & corona]
-h/w test & tilter anti-body test
-2 h/w injections & pre-meds
-h/w preventative & flea prevention [monthly]
Vet Work Pending
-2nd h/w test to make sure she's clear
-spay
Koala's been patiently waiting for several months, polishing her obedience skills and growing a shiny new coat. She's trying really hard for a new family. Are you the one?

Koala is doing great. She's very happy to be back home from the vet and isn't having any bad side effects to her treatment other than being really sore! She's even relaxing a little bit around the other dogs (mostly because my brother is visiting and he has taken her normal space).
UNFORTUNATELY, a Korean friend has pretty much confirmed my suspicions that my neighbors are unhappy with Koala because she's not purebred. I've simply been keeping her inside this week, but Koala loves to go outside and this is not a fair long term solution :( she really needs another foster, or better yet a home, where she can be free to be her cheerful self.

My brother has been visiting from the USA. I was initially worried how Koala and Danbi would take it, as neither one are big on strangers. At first Koala was stand offish... now she's accepted him as part of the household. She follows him around wagging her tail and invites him to play with her :) This concerned me a bit because I thought she might be a strictly one person dog. But it seems she's a one household dog ^-^
She also seems to be getting the housebreaking despite the neighbors. The other day I was taking my dog out (I have to take them out singularly). She darted through my feet, took herself downstairs, opened the automatic door and went pee. By the time I grabbed a leash and was ready to round her up she was already coming back by herself.
Also, due to the fact that she had the treatment, I had to leave her out of the crate for a week (she was too sore). She was perfect the whole time. She didn't bother the other dogs in their crates or destroy anything. Now she's feeling wonderful and back to her happy self.
She'd feel even more wonderful with her own home I'm sure!

Koala and the gang had a play date at the river park. She's gotten a lot more confident about strutting around the city and meandering by the river through the crowds of picnickers. She seemed pretty good about meeting dogs outside, so I think she just doesn't like other dogs in her "space."
She also got a good brush out. Her fur is so sleek and shiny; she gets a lot of admiration when we go out because she's so unique looking.
The weather is definitely a double edge sword though. As nice as it is for me to wander down to the park with the dogs, it also means my neighbors are literally CAMPING on the doorstep (I've had to step over them before) or next to the door in the covered garage eating, chatting and having a booze party everyday @.@;;. It's getting more and more difficult to take the dogs out regularly.

Well, lucky break. The street is having construction and the nosey neighbors have taken it upon themselves to yell at the construction crew instead of me!
Another lucky break is that Koala has been slowly warming up to the other dogs (or at least stopped growling at them). She's been trying to play with poor, old Danbi - by bodyslamming her and biting her head like a chew toy. Koala just can't figure out why I keep interrupting her fun! Clearly she needs to learn to play with someone her size and energy! Still doesn't like Tokki at all though.

I never fail to be amazed how well 3 dogs fit in my shoebox. I've been soooooooooo sick for the last 3 days and they've been nothing but angels. I couldn't take them out on a normal schedule. No problem! They decided they'd just hold it until they exploded >.< (what actually happened is I was guilty and crawled out of bed to let them out). Me being sick meant no walks, also no problem. They quietly played with their toys and snoozed. They spent most of the time snoozing on the bed with me.
So if you want an understanding pooch who goes with the flow, Koala's got it down.

I'm sorry to hear you were sick! I'm really glad you're better, though.
Whenever I come to visit, other than the regular "Don't think you can waltz right in here - I'm onto your schemes!" protective barking of Koala, she calms down really quickly. Past that, she's never been aggressive to me. I mean, initial barking is normal. My German Shepherd would bark at me when I came to the door, until he heard my voice telling him to chill. Similar to my old dog, she considers it her job to protect you and your home, and she takes it very seriously. But, she's also very good at following your lead. Once she's told by E that I'm not going to steal everything in sight, she calms down. Even though I kinda love Danbi, and that Tokki sees it as her personal duty to warm any lap available, Koala has always been a very good girl, and she's going to be a great family member.

Ha, if someone breaks in Koala will be the only line of defense! She is definitely a grade A guard dog. Luckily, I've never had problems getting her to stop. She's really a perfect apartment dog.

You wouldn't even recognize her from the dog before! She's so healthy and confident now. When we went out this morning, she was scare by the thunder, but when she realized I was cool with it, went about her business. What really shocked me was she voluntarily ran up to the ajosshi across the street for pets!

I just wanted to share the little update I got about Miss Koala. It seems I was right: she needed to be the only fuzzy princess to truly shine. She's fitting into her new family wonderfully!
"Just an update on Koala! She is such a member of our family now. Can you believe she sleeps in bed with Eric and I? Plus, she loves to cuddle and watch the Olympics! Koala adores playing with Sam, our youngest, and has a new affection for socks! We absolutely love her!"
