Update 25 Nov 2012:
It's official ladies and gents...Buster has been adopted and will moving to the Philippines with his mom and doggy brother in December!! What a Christmas gift Buster! May you have a very happy life and leave all the bad memories behind.
Update 20 Nov 2012:
Buster is settling into homelife very well. So far, so good! :) Photos to follow. Yay little Buster! I am so happy for you!
Update 13 Nov 2012:
I knew it wouldn't be long before someone gave into the cuteness of this fuzzy little face! I'm happy to announce that Buster went into foster care last Saturday!! Yay Buster! Further to that, he has been to the doctor and had his health checked. He is heartworm NEGATIVE and healthy! He has ear mites and his teeth are nasty but those are relatively easy things to remedy. He also needs only one booster of vaccinations AND the vet guesses this small man is only about 3 years old! He is in the vet for a few days as a precaution for his foster mom's other doggy. Hopefully in a few days he'll be given the all-clear to go home! Watch this space for photos and tales of Buster in his new home.
Update 4 Nov 2012:
Yesterday my aim was to get Buster out of his cage and I succeeded! Thanks to about 4 hard-boiled eggs and a little patience, I was eventually able to pick him up and take him out into the sunshine where we sat and combed his hair and stroked his sweet little face. Buster was scared, but he did well in my arms for the most part. I handed him over to another volunteer and he spent a good long while with her too. This is a major achievement as I think Buster hasn't actually left his cage in all the time he's been at the shelter! The other ladies managed to get a jacket on him which will keep him warmer, but what he really wants is a nice comfy bed in a nice warm home...
Pics to follow soon!! Watch this space!
And P.S., I also discovered he is neutered. :)
==============================================================
Buster is a special little guy in urgent need of a foster home!!
He is a scraggly, skinny mess with a voice that matches his appearance. We all LOVE Buster!! His sweet little face and body don't at all match his name, which is why, of course, we gave it to him.
Buster is a diamond in the rough. He is small, thin, dirty and scared. He must've had something done to his vocal cords which makes him bark the squeakiest little bark. He only really barks when he is scared...I guess he doesn't know that his luck has changed and that we are there to love him, not harm him. I truly think his barking is mostly a facade and that under his tough guy exterior is a little cuddle-bug waiting to emerge.
We are hoping someone with patience can help Buster to be the dog he was before he was (so obviously) mistreated. I just KNOW that this dog has a lot of love to give to the person who will gain his trust, nurture him and love him. All he needs is a chance!
At this moment in time, we are especially worried for Buster because of his size and increased vulnerability in this cold weather. He is not one of the confident souls of Asan who boldly shove their faces into the camera saying "pick me! pick me!" in doggy language. No. Buster retreats to his crate and tries to stay "safe". Thus, no one really knows much about him or where he came from.
If you think you would like the special privilege of bringing Buster out of his shell, please complete the application form at http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application and e-mail it to me: [email protected].
Also, for some inspiration, here are some of Asan's most timid doggies, who have found love, happiness and confidence in their foster and/or forever homes:

Clare was able to get this boy out of his cage for the first time in over a year. To brush his hair for the first time in over a year and to give him kisses and a warm lap for the first time in over a year. I AM IN LOVE with him! He is so tiny aand adorable and beautiful! You cannot see it from his cage or in the photos.
Take about a genuine diamond in the RUFF!

Buster is a shy guy; but once you get him out of that cage and into the sun he simply melts.

A note from Buster's mom:
"To all Busters fans and followers, big step taken today!
Buster went out with Gecko for a short walk...he isn't comfortable around other people (specially men) but he walked beautifully on the leash when there wasn't anything else or one around. Buster IS NOT that dog cowering in the corner of the cage any more!"
Yeah Buster!!
