January 10th: It has taken me a while to make this update, because it was honestly too painful at the time. Several weeks ago, Hasan died. He was involved in an altercation with another dog at the shelter, and although rushed to the vet, did not survive his injuries. I am so heartbroken that Hasan lived most of his too-short life in cold, fear, and misery. I'm so sorry Hasan. I hope you're warm and happy now, wherever you are.
September 29th: The situation of the shelter that Hasan lives at has become very unstable and conditions there are not at their best. Hasan needs a foster or forever home now more than ever. Please consider opening your home and your heart to this wonderful dog: he deserves to know what a family is as much as any other. If you would like to talk about ways you can help Hasan, please email me at [email protected].
July 3rd: Hasan has been moved to a larger run on the hill. Hopefully this change of scenery will be good for him and allow him to socialize more with other dogs and volunteers!~!
May 3rd: Asan's gatekeeper is getting ready to retire his position and live out the rest of his life in leisure. If you think you have room in your heart for this down-on-his-luck pup, then please don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected].
April 3rd: The warmer weather seems to be defrosting Hasan's cold heart this spring! During last weekend's shelter trip, rather than barking at every dog who dared pass his cage, he wandered out of his dog house to do some silent sniffing!~ Good boy, Hasan! Now all you need is a nice warm bed and a wonderful family to teach you other manners and what it's like to have a real home.
March 2nd: Hasan is happy that winter is finally coming to a close, but it would be great for him to find someone patient and loving to spend the spring with! Please consider helping this shy dog overcome his fears and find his forever home! If you're interested in spending some time with Hasan at Asan Shelter, please email me at [email protected].
February 4th: Sweet little Hasan is all bark and no bite. He watched me warily from his doghouse as I cleaned up his pen and got some fresh hay. It was cold and wet at Asan on Saturday, so he wasn't inclined to come out of his house, but sat quietly as I snapped a few pictures of his gorgeous face. I think this little tripawd will surprise us all one day --- he simply needs that special person to help him do it.
January 13th: Hasan got some yummy treats from Dan this weekend and was happy to come right out of his house to get them. Baby steps, Hasan! :)
December 30th: Hasan is cold and lonely. He will be that way for the rest of his life, unless someone can step up and take a chance on him. He can shine --- but he desperately needs someone to help him do it.
December 24th: Hasan is waiting for someone to relieve him of his post as Asan Entrance Guardian. He will spend a lonely, cold Christmas at the shelter, and continue on into the new year without much hope. Please open your heart and your home to sweet Hasan, he deserves so much more than this miserable life.
December 9th: Hasan sits in his miserable, cold cage, day in and day out. I wonder if he will ever be adopted. I would love to see someone commit to socializing Hasan every weekend and teaching him how to open up to people. I know he wants to so badly --- he just needs someone to help him do it.
Hasan has been at Asan for over a year now. If I remember correctly, he was brought to Asan by Mr. Kim from Busan, after being caught in a hunters trap, which resulted in the loss of his leg.
Poor Hasan is very shy and mistrusting of people. He is not aggressive, but will retreat into his doghouse if someone enters his enclosure. Hasan doesn't really appreciate it when other dogs walk by and pee on his cage, so he will let them know by barking and hopping around as they pass. :)
I think Hasan would like everyone to think he is a tough guy, but inside, he is just dying to find someone he can trust. This is not impossible, since I know that Mr. Kim was able to handle and pet him, and Hasan very much enjoyed this. It would be wonderful if we could find someone who could commit to focusing on Hasan and spending time socializing him weekly; this would increase his adoptability tremendously.

Thanks for your interest in this dog at Asan Shelter. I just began putting together information for this animal this week, so I apologize that my information is limited. I have been volunteering there every weekend for the last month, and my experience with Troy has been spotty, but he is healthy and up to date on his vaccinations.
We are visiting the Shelter again on Sunday and I plan to spend time with all the dogs I have assumed profiles for. I will be sure to get some more photos and shoot video of this animal and update his profile accordingly. If you are interested in joining us Sunday or at another time, I can put you in touch with the visit organizers to make arrangements.
There are a lot of wonderful dogs there, and I'm sure we could work with you to find a good fit for your situation, whether fostering or straight adoption. Again, thanks for your inquiry and for checking out the website.

Hasan is a very sweet and super shy boy who is always one of the first faces you see at the shelter. Once we all gathered around to take photos and love on him, I had Mr. Park bring him out for everyone to see, as he was keen to hide in his dog house rather than soak up all the attention.
Stay tuned for more updates, photos, and video of this special guy in the weeks to come.

Why is he special needs? because of his 3 legs? the shyness?

Pretty much both, Marla. He does not seem to be mean or aggressive, but his mobility is severely limited and he is just super shy. The good news is he made it through the cold winter and surprisingly has added a lot of weight in the process.
I really feel for him and can tell he was really traumatized at some point. However, he has been showing a lot of good signs recently. He even responded positively to another dog near his cage with curious smells and was was even wagging his tail.
I would love to see someone show some more interest in this special guy.

What a sweet little dog who has not had a good life. Thank you Allison and Matthew for taking time to be with him. He certainly deserves a good home!
