Gunny hit the jackpot! Huge thanks to Eleny for sponsoring his health check and Nahnhy for sponsoring his month at school. He is loving it! Last week, volunteer and Gunny fan Julie, went to visit him at school. This is what she had to say:
Today and went to the training school and saw Gunny! Seeing Gunny always makes me so happy! He has such a happy, bubbly personality! He is doing really well at the school. He is a very high energy dog. He will need lots of exercise! He absolutely loves people. He does not bite nor is he mouthy. He always runs right into you and pushes his body into yours for cuddles. Today we put him in an exercise pen with two other dogs (Bernie and Matt), he did really well - doesn't show any aggression problems but does run after them and want to play. The trainers think that he would be fine living in a home with other dogs and children. He is still quite young though and does jump up a lot so he needs to continuing training. All in all Gunny is just an amazing puppy!! I love him to bits!

Gunny is loving life at the training centre! He can stretch out his lovely long legs and get some mental stimulation on a daily basis. Just what this guy needed! Watch this space for his progress.

Step two happened on the weekend! Huge thanks to Nahnhy who sponsored a one-month stay for Gunny at the dog training centre. We cannot wait to see him become a mentally-stimluated, healthy dog. Watch this space for updates!

Thanks to the two donors in the USA, Gunny began his journey towards health and happiness.
First step: health check! Gunny tested negative for heartworm and was given DHPPL & Rabies vaccinations on 9 Oct 2013. Thank you Eleny, for making this possible!!
Check out this lovely lad!

Gunny has an angel looking out for him! A wonderful lady in the US would like to sponsor him so that we can increase his chances of getting out of the shelter. He has been there too long & if you compare his situation with his sister's (Kona: http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/dog/1855), who went into foster care months ago, it makes me feel particularly sad. Kona got distemper, which was awful, but a blessing in disguise as it got her into a better place. Gunny is still waiting, and I'm worried because he has been in the shelter during some very formative months as a pup.
Are you willing to help Gunny? Please contact me as soon as possible so that we can discuss his options together with his sponsor.

Gunny has been moved into the bottom section of the shelter into a more cramped cage, so he was very happy to have a walk last weekend. Here is a video of him BEFORE his walk. You can also see Hassan & Tanihwa in the video. :)

We are SO LUCKY to have this amazing young Jindo at Asan. He has an amazing temperament and is a really striking boy. He is still a puppy and already the size of some adult Jindos, so I would look for him to be a large addition to any family.
He arrived at the shelter just this last week from a local kill shelter with his sister who is just as amazing as he.
This is a great time to pull him from the shelter if you are interested in a Jindo. He was already blessed with a great disposition, so socialization and training are already on the right tracks for a dedicated person. We really hate to leave puppies in the shelter as they miss out on the critical training and socialization period. Please if you foster at the very least it will huge in increasing his adaptability.
You have a small place? No problem. Jindos are used to spending time in small confined places. AS long are you are properly exercising your Jindo outside of the home, when you come in, you will be surprised how tiny a Jindo can make himself.
Would you like more information on Jindos, please visit this blog, Jindo Tales: http://www.jindotales.com/ . The owner of the site recently adopted one of our Jindos and is a great resource. We have many volunteers who have adopted Jindos from our shelter and would be happy to talk to you about owning a jindo as well as owning a large dog in Korea. Please feel free to ask for contact information and it will come!
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Gunny, please fill out the fostering/adoption application completely, located here: http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application and return to [email protected].
Please note we require foster parents to pay a "foster fee" of W100,000 which will cover a basic health check, the first round of vaccinations and a neuter. This money would come back to you when you adopt him out to his forever home & they pay you the adoption fee.

Oh! He's SOOOO cute! I can attest to Jindos doing just fine in small apartments, granted they receive enough exercise and mental stimulation. I have a 4-month-old very playful Jindo pup as well as another medium-sized mixed breed in my tiny little studio. They are happy as clams to live in my small space because I give them plenty of exercise before and after work ^^ Don't let the size of your dwelling deter you from adopting a larger dog!

Gunny is AWESOME! What a sweetheart! Hopefully someone will snatch him up soon, because he is such a love bug! He is so young and impressionable, it would be heartbreaking to see such an outgoing, loving dog stay at the shelter. He is SO happy to meet everyone and will melt your heart with his derpy faces ^^

Hey Clare!
Would you be able to talk a little about his personality with other dogs a little more? How does he behave around the lady pups? Also, are there any updates on his vaccinations?

Gunny is just amazing!! I saw him last week and he is such a sweet boy! Despite spending his puppyhood in the shelter he is still so affectionate. He is a big teddy bear! When I went up to him, he just wanted to be as close to me as possible. He wanted to be touched and cuddled. It's obvious that he really longs for and loves interacting with people and he is so keen to please... He may be big and look messy, but don't be put off! He is one of the most amazing, loving dogs! Please someone give him a chance!

Such a handsome looking pup! What do you think he's mixed with? Samoyed? Shepherd? His coat seems fluffier than most Jindo's I've come into contact with. He's got great colors. I would love to meet him sometime! Is he still in Namyangju? I live in Junggye!

As far as I know, he just started the training school last week. I am planning to call the school to find out how he is doing as I am also interested in him. I requested pic of him on school's website. If his pic show up on website, I will copy those here.
