Don't you LOVE pirates? Or maybe zombies? Or vampires? Totally. So do we. Anyway, Pirate Cat has one eye, which is fantastically piratey. Or zombieish. And she's a cat, so she's definitely a vampire. Even though she has some problematic proclivities for plundering and looting, she's super sweet. She may steal your heart... See what I did there? Pirate Cat is a very experienced pirate, but please don't expose her to parrots. We're not exactly sure what she would do in that situation. Gold coins, yes. Planks, sure. Peg leg? Good for sharpening claws! EXCELLENT!
Pirate Cat is probably that kind of pirate who is always drunk. I've never seen Pirate Cat not lazing around, purring "Yo Ho Ho," and looking for a place to nap. She'll sit upside down in your lap and tell you some bizarre tales about Samoan love potions. Pirate Cat has some great stories. If you adopt her, she may insist that you make her little pirate hats and eye-patches out of paper. NEVERMIND. I'M GOING TO DO THAT. STAND BY FOR PICTURES.
Adopt Pirate Cat today!

You know, I really love pirate cats. I might need to adopt her. I can already see Halloween. She can have a little patch and bandana around her head (maybe a gold earring?), and Chaucer can wear a little 3 corner hat. Bernie Cat can go as herself + map.... Together they can be Cap't Chaucer, One-eyed Tabby, and Club-tail Bernie, the most fearsome crew to ever roam a Korean apartment complex. Together they'll rob the treat cabinets and dig through gardens in search of buried treasure.

Hello! This gato is quite fascinating. I'm in the market for a gato of me own, and Pirate Cat is pretty captivating... Can you tell me a bit more? What's the energy level of Pirate Cat like? And how noisy is she? Would she do ok as a solo cat?

Hi! This gato is MUY fascinating! I'm sorry that I can't answer very well, since this cat is at the shelter and I only know it a little bit. However, I can tell you that after one visit my husband and our friend and I were all madly in love with this cat. The next time we went we looked around for "one-eyed cat" and were so excited to see her again. She just comes over to you right away and curls up in your lap, or pushes her face against your hands. You can pick her up and she's just happy as can be. I'd say her energy level is medium... I guess? She's definitely not wild, but she's happy to engage in play. She'll often wrestle with my hands, but she has never scratched. A few times I've thought she was going to bite me but she just licked me instead. So cute! I've never heard her make any noise but purring. I have a feeling she'd by fine solo, but again, there's really no way to know. However, in my experience cats are pretty good at adjusting to most situations. If you're interested in filling out an application, just email me at [email protected]! Thanks!

She is just captivating, I think I'll pop by the cat shelter this weekend to meet her and see if we'd be a good match (guess she has to like me, too... LOL).
I won't be able to adopt until after Chuseok, should I fill out an application now, or wait until later?

Anytime is fine! Better sooner than later, I suppose so that you don't have to wait on paper work when you're ready to take in an animal. Email me at [email protected] so that I can get you the right forms and get you in my contact list. FYI, we have our own application, so please email and ask for ours rather than using the ones here on ARK. They're fine, but we really like our letterhead ;)

I adopted Pirate Cat today! She shan't be coming home until after Chuseok (since I'm traveling over the holiday), but she's my new best pal!
I overheard the Korean volunteers calling her Dubu- which I thought was funny because that was the name I'd secretly picked out for her (I think "tofu" is a funny name for a vegetarian's cat...!). Apparently in her pre-KAPS days she lived outside a tofu shop. ;)
I LOVE THIS CAT SO MUCH!

Dubu is home and is sitting as close as possible to me at all times! She's been eating well, playing, and snuggling! Still waiting for the first litter box visit, but otherwise she seems to be settling in like a dream!

Dubu went to the vet yesterday (shout out to dr.kim at cat and dog hospital in daegu)! She has a touch of the kitty flu, and some ear mites as well... Otherwise she seems healthy (we're going in next week for a full blood test and such). She's been very lazy since coming home, but today she is much more active and happy! I think the antibiotics are already working!

Great news! The vet ran several blood tests on Dubu, and she is completely healthy! Negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and her kidneys and liver are functioning fully. She is still on antibiotics for flu, and the vet wants to do one more round of treatment for ear mites. Right now we're working on night training ( she thinks 4 am is wake up time, and I disagree) and doing some harness training. I love this cat!!!
