This special boy finally went to a forever home today to South Carolina.
I fostered him for three days, and I totally fell in love him.
I lost myself and cried at the airport cargo area creating big scene. LOL
I am so happy for him!!!!

Yes, you are right. Bear does not have half of the face.
Last summer (2013), he came to the city pound at very young age (6~8wks). The staff at the city pound put him in the cage with other mommy dog, hoping the mommy dog would take care of him as well. Unfortunately, that mommy did take care of him, but bit Bear's face.
Bear was brought to the vet right away. However, Bear was in very serious condition (as you can see in some of pics) and recommended to be euthanized.
He was transferred to a different vet for the second opinion.
In the second vet, he received massive surgery.
Part of his jaw that was broken and infected had to be removed, and so as part of tongue.
Upper jaw and teeth was reorganized, and drainage was inserted.
The rescue group was told that Bear may not survive through the surgery as he was too young for that kind of surgery. However, he made it!, yes he made it!
After the first surgery, two volunteers took turns to fed him in every few hours.
The rescue group was going to euthanize him if he refuses to eat and struggles for too much pain. However, Bear never gave up. He ate all the food that was fed by volunteers.
Few days later, he had to go for another surgery as part of his jaw melt down due to severe infection. Some of his jaw again was removed.
After two massive surgeries, he was still showing strong will for life.
Even with severe pain and swelling, he did not refuse food.
Unfortunately, his struggle did not end here. His drainage had to be fixed, and more part of his face had to be removed due to infection.
(Please see more of Bear's pics at http://cafe.naver.com/forewl/161. You can see before and after surgeries)
After these 3 surgeries, he had to have several skin grafts.
He was 2-4months old when he got though all this.
He never gave up.
Here he is!
Now, he walks, runs, and plays just like other puppies!
He cannot chew hard food, and kibbles need to be softened (he eats very well with little spillage).
However, other than that, he is just like other happy-go-lucky puppies.
He is potty trained and good with other dogs.
According to foster family, Bear is a amazingly gentle pup!
He is currently 6 kg, and may add some more.
