Beatty / Jangsu was adopted in April, 2012 after spending 8 years in a shelter. After months enjoying a home of his own he took a tumble after jumping and hurt his spine. An MRI showed spinal cord damage and deterioration in two different locations, ruling out a surgical method of treatment. His breathing became labored after waking up from the anesthesia and his condition worsened throughout the day. Although he had the soul of a young dog, his body was not able to recover.
His owner was with him in his last moments before he passed away. She is such an amazing person for opening her home and heart to this sweet dog. I am so very sorry he couldn't be with you longer, but thank you for the time that he was able to be with you.
****
He is such a sweetheart.
He looooves going out for a walk or getting some attention. He is also up for playing with other dogs when he gets the chance (and they are also up for it).
From observation, even as a beagle, this dog does not bay/bark as much as I thought would be normal in a shelter situation.
Beatty is very friendly with people and with other dogs. Such a sweetie deserves more than life in a cage.
He is still waiting for you!

Cute video! Beatty's puppy-eyes are so sweet. He looks pretty happy to get to run around his room of friends.

Gosh Beatty has a smile to die for! I thought surely by now someone would have been glad to take a vacation to Jeju and come home with a friend! Beatty looks like he would be a marvelous friend.
I do hope this summer someone decides to take a life changing vacation this year ;)

Some really great news:
Beatty, the sweetest beagle who has been waiting such a long time, was adopted this past weekend. Thanks Kara for coordinating on Jeju and helping with transportation. Beatty's adopter came all the way from the mainland to meet the shelter owner and to take Beatty home.
Wishing the best for both Beatty and his new family!

Just a quick update on Beatty. Although he's still learning about living in a home he's taken a liking to soft places to lay on, when he's not following his adopter around :) He's just visited the vet and is being treated for an ear infection, poor guy. He also has a small cough that will be investigated.
Thanks so much to his adopter for taking such good care of him (and great pics!). We are hoping that he will have a clean bill of health so please send him your positive thoughts.

Beatty's name is now Jangsu (long life).
He has an ear infection and his teeth need scaling, but more importantly last week the veterinarian found that he was suffering from acute hepatic (liver) failure. With treatment from his doctor and through the dedication of his adopter, Jangsu is showing good signs of improvement and even felt like running a little bit this past weekend.
We are hoping he lives up to his name and gets fully better soon!

With treatment Jangsu has made a good recovery from the acute liver failure. He is eating more and has good energy. Everyone at the shelter is so happy to hear he is doing well! Many thanks to his dedicated adopter. He is very lucky to have found you.
I've been told that Jangsu had been at the shelter since he was less than 1 year old. Can you imagine? He is now about 9 years old. Although he is a "senior" he still has a lot of spunk and vitality. We are hoping he has many happy years in his new home. I am so thankful he has a person and home all his own.

Oh no! I am just seeing this now! I'm so terribly sorry to hear about Beatty! Poor sweetie! Thank you so much for loving him and giving him a home! It's sad that he passed away but it's so wonderful that it happened in a loving home rather than alone in the shelter! Thank you! :)
