We recieved an update from Coonies (Rose Tu Tu) foster mom, Annaliese. "Tu Tu is much changed from her profile on ARK - her coonie markings are almost gone - she just has a few minor tear stains under her eyes and she is becoming very beautiful. She is the light of our lives, so to speak - super intelligent, happy, playful, loving, she's like a little fairy dancing about. She's got my dog Ting Ting playing all day, and he's a pretty grumpy boy most of the time. She's a really good family dog - loves children or lying on top of you when you're watching tv"

From Tu Tu's foster mom: "Tu Tu loves to run in the park, skip about the house and wrestle with the other dogs but she is also very well behaved. She has just discovered the squeak in the squeaky toy and sits squeaking it happily. She's loyal and sits with you. She loves to say hello to everyone, in the elevator, in the street, in the house and rarely barks. She's very smart and would be excellent for outdoor activities. She is bright and enthusiastic, sweet and very pretty. Her fur is luxurious and although she sheds a little, it is not too much. She is a well balanced, charming, outgoing dog".

Aw, beautiful girl! Her color is so different now--she is so white. I guess with being clean! I always thought she was kind of a beige color. Thanks for taking such good care of Rose Tu Tu.

Alaska was nervous her first few days in her new home, but now has taken over the whole house! After we come home and take off our shoes, she takes them to the bedroom and places them on the bed. Maybe in an attempt so that we won't leave? She is an incredibly loving dog, and she gets lots of walks on the mountain behind our house. She's really active, loves playing with us, and loves playing with her toys. Thank you to her foster mom and to ARK for bring her into our lives!! -April

So, it's time for a long overdue update. Alaska is doing very well and we probably love her more now than when we first brought her home. We finally trained her not to take our shoes after losing a shoe and a shoelace to her chewing habit, but she still jumps all over us when we get home. Some of her latest favorite activities include chewing on her squeaky toys, chasing after her rope and playing tug-o-war, and trying to eat bugs flying around in our home.
She's had her summer haircut and the fur has started growing back. Especially with the heat, her favorite hang out has become the space under our bed. But when it's time to go to sleep, she still gets on the bed and sleeps right in between us, often cuddling right up next to one of us. I'll often wake up to find her sleeping right in between my legs.
We're still working on tricks with her - she knows how to sit, stay, high-five and some of the other basics, and is starting to learn how to roll over. The problem is that when we bring out the treats, she gets so excited that she just tries to figure out which trick we want and starts doing them all. Very entertaining.
That's it for now...hopefully another update in less than 5 months!! -David

Alaska is continuing to do well. She's learned to roll over pretty well now (though she's only an ambi-roller...can't roll in both directions. yet.) and can do a jumping high five. She also recently learned that she can throw her toys in the air and then pounce on them. It's ridiculously cute to watch, but Alaska seems to know when she's being recorded and will stop when the cameras turn on. Maybe one day...
Alaska is also becoming more affectionate and more attached to us. The picture I'm posting is one of her sitting in my lap while I study at our kitchen table. In fact, I'm typing out this update on my laptop from the bed, and Alaska is up against my leg with her head resting on my ankle right now. It's a regular thing for me now to have her jump in my lap or curl up next to me, whether I'm studying, prepping to teach, or just emailing friends back home. It's very sweet and we love having her around to keep us company.
Thanks again ARK, and please keep doing what you're doing. That's it for now, more next time! -David
