Fiona

We saw Fiona at the end of the row of cages. She was dirty, skinny, and bleeding. She had matts in her fur so thick they were tearing off, and she was in her small cage with two very obviously more dominant male dogs. We couldn't stop thinking of her poor little face, so several hours later we went back and got her out. We took her straight to the vet to get her checked for heartworm, get shaved down, and get medicine for her skin. No idea what her story was, but the pound worker said they were planning to put her down in two more days. Luckily, she is heartworm negative, and besides the boo-boo's was in great health.
I have since taken her to two different vets, one said she was 2-3 years old, and one said she was 3-4 years old. So, I'll just guess she is 3. She has not gotten vaccinated yet, but I am taking her this week to get them done an will update afterwards. I also plan to get her spayed, but I am not sure of the time frame for that.
Her temperament is extremely loving, gentle and sweet. She is amazing with the kids (I have an 18 month old and a 3 year old) She is very playful, and likes walks, but doesn't seem like a high energy dog who NEEDS long walks.
She has not had any training that I noticed, which leaves me very confused. But, she is working on house training, crate training and her basic commands and she is doing very well. We are down to minimal potty accidents, she sleeps overnight in her crate, and knows "down" about 3/4 the time.
As far as inhouse barking goes, she does bark sometimes when she is playing with the other dogs (we has 2 others), but not constant barking. When we leave the house, I turn the t'v on for her and I have not had any problems with her barking while I wasn't home.
Please consider Fiona. She makes a great lapdog. Very loyal, and absolutely adores humans. Poor girl has clearly been though something terrible, though, she'll never be able to tell us what. She has remained a strong, sweet, lady, and deserves a real home.
