Hammer

She is in great health, has not been declawed, but can be trusted to keep her scratching limited to her prized Cat Tree. She is as loving as can be and is a joy to have around the house.

My wife and I first saw Hammer 2 years ago as she was scurrying around our neighborhood scavenging for scraps. Soon, she began regularly appearing at our doorstep and after a week of seeing her as we arrived home from work, we began sitting down with her on our stoop. Her coat was in good condition for a stray but she was obviously underfed and very very hungry. She warmed up to us over the course of a few days and one day we took her in. We posted flyers all around the neighborhood with her photo, but nobody claimed her. Our gain. We have since loved this lovable beauty as a family member.

We had planned to take her home with us and keep her forever, but unfortunately a few things have happened and we are leaving under much different conditions than we would like. Without going into too many details, my wife's mother has a 3rd kind of cancer and lives with dogs that are, shall we say, untrained and unkind to other animals. We will be caring for mother, and between all that entails in addition to parenthood and multiple cross-country moves that are filled with uncertainty, we need to find Hammer a loving home here with the emotional and physical space to give her what she needs.
