After more than a year waiting for his forever home after being dumped by his first family and rescued by KAPS Daegu Wordsworth has finally found his forever home. He has been adopted by a couple who had previously adopted another Shih Tzu pup from KAPS. So Wordsworth now has a Mum, Dad, and a new sister!!
I am so happy that he finally has the forever home he deserved.
Here he is going for a run:
In the house he loves snuggling while you watch TV and will happily sleep tucked in next to you, or on you if you let him! He has really lovely curly hair which makes him very cute, but also very strokable.
He is not a snorer, or a big barker but will bark if someone comes to the door or while playing with other dogs.
He loves his toys, he flips them over his head and rolls on them. He also loves playing fetch, a game he is only just learning can be played outside too.
Here he is demonstrating all his adorable silliness:
He loves people and will try to say 'hello' to everyone when you are out walking. He is great with kids and loves young teenagers - all of whom he thinks are my students and therefore automatic best friends, who should be licked on sight.
Wordsworth is up-to-date on his vaccinations until mid 2014. He is neutered and heartworm free and microchipped.
Wordsworth is looking for a foster or forever home as soon as possible. His Foster Mum wants him settled in well before she leaves in February.
He has a pet sitter of his very own who is happy to take him if you return the favour when she goes away. Wordsworth and her dog Belle are best friends, so are easy to have together, even in a small apartment.
Please consider this fabulous little pup who has been waiting patiently for his forever home for over a year now. He is a great little dog who really deserves his own person.

I was lucky enough to visit Wordsworth at his foster mom's house this weekend. He is probably THE cutest little thing I've seen! Ever.
He's very curious and playful. Fingers crossed that he will make it through! We're all pulling for you, Words!!

Wordsworth is still doing well. His cough is minimal and no sign of the other cold symptoms that go with Distemper. But I can't find a food he likes. I am guessing he has been fed Korean food. He enjoys dog food, once. He will wolf down the dry food the first time he has it. Then he doesn't want it again!! Expensive. Even with wet food he likes it once or twice then gets bored. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. I want to make sure he is eating so he can fight the disease so it is quite important.
New pictures to follow.

I had to take the car to the garage, so we all sat in the waiting room together. At first Wordsworth really wanted to sniff everything, but then he just settled down. Apparently he really loves sardines! Go figure, so I guess I will try him with some fishy stuff and see if he will eat that.

Hi Lin, thanks so much I checked the bank last night. Your donation covers the weeks worth of medication I got for him on Monday. He wasn't serious over the weekend but was getting the sniffles again so to be on the safe side I got more medicine. Unfortunately he went downhill fast last night and I am heading to the vet at lunch time. I have no clue what is wrong now, the symptoms are totally unrelated to Distemper. I'll let you know how we get on.

Update.
Wordsworth is not doing well at all. I suspect that the Corona gave his little immune system too much extra work and allowed the distemper to really take hold. His distempter symptoms have come back much worse. With a terrible runny nose and sniffles but more worryingly a real depression and listlessness. He spends most of his time sleeping, which hopefully means his body is fixing him but the situation is far from ideal.
He is still on medicine from the vet and I will keep a close eye on him. Fingers crossed he will make a recovery. Thanks so much f9r all your well wishes.

Yes, sorry the update at the bottom of his profile is not very easy to see. He developed it last week. The disease in itself shouldn't be serious, he went and stayed at the vets for three days so they could give him the fluids he needed. But I think it just knocked back his immune system again so the distemper could take hold again. This time he is not fighting the distemper like last time. He is eating less and less. I don't think there is much more I can do really. We are still using the medicine the vet gave us and I try to feed him as often as possible so whenever he is hungry he is getting some food. I'm still hoping he will bounce back.

And in the continuing saga of the wee Woz man (seriously I think he is trying to do me in!) he has perked up considerably today! Even barked at me this morning. Finally found some food he wanted to eat (only 6 cans of opened dog food in my house now!) and he wolfed down 1/2 a can at lunch time. I like this forward progress.

Update:
Wozzy and I went to the vet yesterday. Although she initially started out very positive she noticed a strange twitch. I had thought it was just him sniffing so had gone back for more medicine but she thinks it might be the start of the neurological signs of distemper.
She has given us anti-convulsants in the hope that they will hold back or stop any seizures. But we can't be sure what the twitch is until he gets better, or worse. If the neurological signs set in then there isn't really anything further to do. He will either die from seizures or be put down. Hopefully it's just a weird twitch. Seems like if it's not one thing it's something else these days.
Anyway, here is a video of his twitch.

Hi Everyone,
Here is the newest video of Wordsworth:
As you can see he is not doing great. His 'tick' is now much more pronounced. We are going to the vet tomorrow, but to be honest I think we might be going to get him put down. He is hardly sleeping because the tick wakes him up so often. Also he has started getting pains that cause him to yelp, it doesn't last more than a few seconds but it can't be good. Altogether his quality of life is not great. We can continue to medicate him on anti-convulsants, but they will be less and less effective.
Anyways, off to the vet tomorrow and we will see what she suggests.
I'm sorry it's not better news.

Still hope he can make it but if he does need to be put down, at least he had such a warm and happy life, no matter how short!

The wee man is still with us. I visited the vet on Monday and she wants to try one more round of medicine. It's still very much wait and see and she isn't really very optimistic. I think she just doesn't want me crying my eyes out in public again :) Anyway, for now he is loud (seriously, barks often) and proud with a terrible new haircut the vet gave him.
Thanks everyone for keeping up with him and thinking of him, it really helps.

Out for a walk on Friday. We walked Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday he managed nearly 10 minutes on and off and still had energy to burn.
Problem is he seems to be dying from starvation. I have wormed him but I am going to get more from the vet Tuesday, although he has no other signs of parasites. I guess maybe his body finally realised he hadn't been eating enough for a growing boy and decided to catch up. Unfortunately for me that means wake up barking twice a night for more food!! Planning on putting out loads of dry food tonight in the hope that he can make it through the night!
Worst manners ever! He wants to be the centre of attention, the moment I try to lavish some attention on Luna he is there butting in. And if he doesn't get it barking ensues. Think we are back to training time!

Yay Wordsworth, you little fighter!! Sounds like distemper is a thing of the past! And, between distemper and bad manners, I'd say bad manners is definitely easier to deal with!! :) Happy training!

Progress update.
Some of you will remember this video from when Wozzy first arrived:
He was quite nervous with Luna and had no idea she was trying to play.
This video was taken this morning. At this point they have been playing very happily like this for about 45 minutes, they both seem to be having a great time and there has been none of the worried growling he used to display. That also shows how much stronger he is, that he has the energy to keep this up!!

Wozzy and Belle seem to be living it up right now. I do believe that Belle enjoys letting Wozzy know that she can climb on the bed and he can't. Bless his little heart as he does keep trying! They seem to be having a great time together currently. Wozzy has a ton of energy and gives Belle the run around. Puts her to shame! I've got a video and as soon as I can figure out how to trim it, I'll place it up so everyone can see the bed chatter between Belle and Wozzy.

Wozzy spent the morning playing with my upstairs neighbors kids! He (and Belle) had an absolute blast. Wozzy would be a great addition to any family. The kids were 14 and 10 and enjoyed feeding both dogs treats (eating out of hands) and playing fetch and keep away. Couldn't ask for a better morning!
